You might wonder why, if I had such a bad experience with Durex Tingle, why did I try another product in the range? Well I didn't, my husband picked it up prior to boarding our aircraft when he realised, rather loudly, that he hadn't brought any, and it was the only lubricant available in the small Boots The Chemist in Manchester Airport.
So, he paid £4.99 for a 100ml pump bottle. The bottle is of an OK design, the bottle is covered in a blue, plastic bottle cover label, this is OK and the Durex logo is easily recognisable. There is a pump action dispenser and prior to using, this was wrapped in plastic as a security measure.
To open the bottle, you needed teeth, fingers and eventually a small metal nail file in order to prise the plastic labelling away from the pump dispenser, as there was no tearaway piece enabling easy access, so I would advise you, open the packet before the crucial moment when you need it, as you may find your partner huffing and puffing away in disgust at how long it takes you to get the bottle open, After you have professionally safe cracked the bottle, you simply twist the pump to open the pump.
The bottle advises this is a water based lubricant and is compatible with condoms, it also advises that it is easy to wash off but it does stress it is not a contraceptive nor is it a spermicide, so if you are wanting contraceptive protection, you need to use additional precautions too.
We decided to try a patch test on both of our inner, upper arm prior to use. We both noticed that this lubricant has a smooth cooler and smoother texture than the 'Tingle' variety and on applying it, the sensation was one of silkiness, it does promise heightened sensations if applied to the erogenous zones on the packaging too.
After 24 hours, nobody had had any reaction to the product so we decided to put it to the test.
Using the pump is easy and depending on how hard you press it, you can get more or less product out, an average squeeze managed to get enough for one partner, so on average we used 2 squirts. The lubricant feels very silky but also slightly slippery but it's not an unpleasant sensation for either partner. There was no tingling or burning sensation and it didn't feel greasy either.
The actual lubricant does feel very nice on, it gives a nice touch sensation which is great for using as a massage aide, which may, in some people's views, may justify the price, for me it didn't but Andrew thought it did. The lubricant made all aspects of use easy, made it comfortable and didn't have any adverse side effects. It didn't feel too 'slippery' either, which is a relief because lubricants can draw a fine line between being a lubricant and being greasy, slippery and unpleasant and this product manages to stay on the pleasanter side of the specturm.
When used a lubricant for sex, it doesn't dry up or need re-application at all but it does seem that it we had applied any more than we had done, we would have used too much an it would have become too slippery to give a pleasurable experience.
We had expected a bit of heightend sensation as promised on the pack but although it changes the type of sensation you both feel, it doesn't actually make it a sensusal sensation, which is what you may expect with such a description on the bottle. This was a little disappointing for Andrew, but for me, it was a relief after the last encounter with 'Tingle'.
The only drawback we encountered was when using it as a massage aide, we found it dried up fairly quickly when it was being rubbed around, I know that being a lotion type consistency that eventually it would rub it but it was very quick to dry up, much quicker than I would have thought it would.
After use, if there was any left it on the body, it was very easy to wash off and there was no unpleasant greasiness or smell left on the skin, it didn't leave skin any softer than normal but then, you're not using it as a moisturiser are you?!
We thought this product was a huge improvement on the 'Tingle' variety. With 'Feel' being Durex first outing into the lubricant world, this really is the best and I do think they should have stuck to this variety before venturing into lubricants that offered varying sensations, because they really aren't as good as the original. I do feel that, having experiences this lubricant and one of their other varieties, this is really what a lubricant should be like, it gives a nice sensation, it's non greasy and it's easy to use, Durex really don't need to add tastes and sensations to make a good lubricant.
Overall, I would recommend this lubricant to anyone, whether they are looking for a product for medical purposes, like ladies with dryness though the menopause or for just a simple but versatile aide in you love life. Price wise, I do feel it was a little steep but we still have plenty left in a 100ml bottle after a good few uses, I have seen recently on the internet that 'Feel' retails on some websites for £5 and over, so maybe the price wasn't actually too bad in retrospect.
Durex could improve their packaging to make an easy tear plastic around the pump, because it was very difficult to open and it really could ruin the mood if you had to spend any length of time trying to open the pack! The pack clearly states that it is compatible with condoms, which avoids any confusion or any worry if this is important to you.
I like this product and it gets the thumbs up from me.
Advantages: No smell, colourless, doesn't stain clothes Disadvantages: Doesn't work like the packaging says
Durex Play Feel
I had some Boots vouchers spare, need some condoms and spotted Durex's Play range. I'm not a massive fan of lubes. They always seem to dry me up but my boyfriend said oooh lets get some so I relented. No clue why he picked the Feel bottle but he did. So in the basket, it went. Then lots of blushing at the till and off home.
It's buy one get one free on selected Durex items in Boots at the moment. No clue how long it will last. The ... ...free but if you're just buying it, it's £3.55 for a 50ml. It's also available in 100ml bottles. I've seen it in Boots for £5.55. Other products in the Play range are Play Tingle, Heat, Sensations (a packet of different lubes testers so to say), 2 in 1 massage and Play Vibrators (only available in Superdrug).
The packaging is nice and plain though I would say that it's more male-orientated (since I wouldn't have picked that one). It doesn't massively ...

...category under "contraception"? I'll let Durex themselves sort this one out:
"Durex Play Feel Lubricant is not a contraceptive and does not contain spermicide."
Just a bit of clarification there, just in case anyone is as stupid as the people at ciao.co.uk. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This product had been recommended by a friend, so this was chosen instead of your bog-standard KY. Plus the bottle looked pretty cool.

Advantages: Non-spill cap and cool sensation Disadvantages: Difficult for people without finger nails to open
Durex Play Feel blew me away ; )
I wasn't really a fan of lubricants until I requested some normal Durex Play that was free off the Durex website. When I recieved a little sachet I wasn't sure what to expect and I wasn't disappointed. It's a fantastic pleasure enhancer.
Next time I bought some lube I got this Durex Play Feel. It was easy to open (for someone with little hands) and had a non-spill cap which is very handy but I must say that the ... ...immediate difference between the regular Durex Play and the all new Feel range is the sensations. This one is cooler and leaves you a bit tickly, in a good way.
It is odourless and there was no irritation but it can get all over your lovely clean sheets and cause you to get a bit fluffy. It's also non-greasy and water-soluble so is idea for using with Durex condoms.
Prices for a 50ml bottle vary from £3.49 to £3.99 and are available from most pharmacies, ...

Advantages: compact, can be sealled, attractive design Disadvantages: cud smell a bit better
...we;ve all heard of the Durex name - I strongly feel this is a reliable and good value for money product. The design itself allows for the pump at the top to be twisted, so can be sealled so none will drip. I do also find this to be of an ideal size (if this needs to be taken with you on say your holiday's, etc, etc) So then! Overall a great product- small, relaible, smells ok and causes no irratation (in my opinion) ...
