They are not bio-degradable, they cannot be described as environmentally friendly but they fascinate me – what am I talking about ?
Packets of household wipes.
Every supermarket or discount store that you step into can offer you a wipe for every occasion, anti-bacterial wipes, floor wipes, bathroom wipes, kitchen wipes and last but by no means least the Duzzit furniture polish wipe.

Until I had bought and paid for my packet of Duzzit furniture polish wipes I have to admit the company was a complete stranger to me but it seems that they are a UK based company.
My pack of 24 wipes cost me the grand sum of £1, so at around about 4p a wipe that seems acceptable.
I already buy the odd packet of kitchen or bathroom wipes so I knew what to expect, the rather drab looking plastic packet had an opening on the top to allow you to remove a wipe and then the opening could be resealed to prevent the remaining wipes from drying out.

Each wipe measures about 8 inches by six inches, so they are a decent size. The white wipes are quite thin but they are still strong. It would take a good old tug to pull the furniture polish wipe apart.
As you pull a moist wipe out of the plastic packet the smell is good, the wipe is filled with that `I've just finished doing my polishing smell`.

I usually spray a small amount of Pledge polish onto my duster and make that do, so the moist wipe felt quite unusual. As you grasp it in your hand it tends to crinkle up and I had reservations about the amount of `wet polish` that was on each wipe.

Home is home and I have a grand mixture of furniture here, some light wood and some dark and it all gets the same treatment.
The wipes worked well on the light wood, they removed the surface dust and the dust stayed firmly on the wipe whereas it tends to fly into the air when you use a dry duster.
The light wood surfaces dried well and looked good, no streaks or wipe marks.

There was a slightly different tale to tell when I used the Duzzit wipe on the dark wood furniture, the moisture in the wipe seemed to smear and it refused to clear. Never one to be beaten I put the wipe on the work surface and left it to dry out a little and then went back to try and shine up that dark wood. The semi-dry Duzzit wipe worked far better, it removed the streaks and achieved a reasonable shine. I was two-thirds of the way to a good shiny surface so I got my soft duster from the cupboard and just buffed the wood to finish it off.

The Duzzit wipes really came in handy on my dining chairs, they have those turned legs which can prove a real pain but the moist wipe took care of them in a jiffy. The wipe is far finer than an ordinary duster and gets into all of those odd places with ease.

Just for good measure and because I liked the smell I gave the top of the television and the Hi-Fi a wipe over too.

Each Furniture polish wipe can only be used once and then you have to throw it away, so in effect it is costing you a few pence each time that you dust. If you normally use a yellow duster like me then I once I have taken out a new cloth duster it lasts for ages and gets treated to a good wash now and again, so it probably works out cheaper.

The cost is really neither here nor there, the Duzzit Furniture Polish Wipes are fine and they cope with the job well.
If you are looking for a quick fix then the polish wipe is ideal, if you need to suppress the dust for any reason ( allergies Etc. ) then again the wipes definitely have a place in your home.
I will use my packet and I may well replace them if only to polish the dining chairs.
