I won't go into the specific technical details of this router as it would only bore you (and I would simply be copying the description from the box).
Instead I will tell you that during the installation ... ...the router. This looks rather ugly and is quite difficult to navigate for a beginner. What was worse than pure aesthetics was that we couldn't get it to work and the included instructions are very, very basic. It is basically up to you to sit down and fiddle with the connection, first between laptop and router and then to the Internet.

In our household we aren't paying a lot for a fast connection to the Internet. Following this trend we decided to buy a wireless router that didn't cost too much, we decided after a bare minimum of research to purchase the Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-G, which (as suggested by it's name) is an ADSL compatible wireless router. In non computer speak it is a router that will connect to your broadband connection that uses the phone line. I won't go into the specific technical details of this router as it would only bore you (and I would simply be copying the description from the box). Instead I will tell you that during the installation process, we encountered the standard software setup that comes with the router. This looks rather ugly and is quite difficult to navigate for a beginner. What was worse than pure aesthetics was that we couldn't get it to work and the included instructions are very, very basic. It is basically up to you to sit down and fiddle with the connection, first between laptop and router and then to the Internet. After a couple of days we managed to get online. Lo and behold our disappointment when we just after connecting to the Internet dropped the connection and then the router refused to connect us again. We had to go back to the shop where we bought it and got a replacement router, which worked (finally). Now, this router has only got one antenna for emitting the wifi signals (802.11g - standard). As we live in a flat with fairly thick walls we have noticed that our supposedly wireless connection still requires laptops to be in the same room or at least the next one away for the signal to be able to penetrate the walls. A final comment on this small piece of fairly useless plastic is that sometimes the connection still drops even though we are close to the router. This is soon resumed normally, but can still be rather irritating.
All in all, this is a router that fails to do well what it was designed to do - providing wireless access to the Internet - and with a difficult setup process to top it all. I would not have bought this router today, if I'd known what I know now....
Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, Good range Disadvantages: No manual port forwarding, Confusing setup page
Bought from Amazon when only £25, which made it a bargain wifi ADSL router.
Has ADSL2 support, and WPA2 encryption. There is a firewall built in, but it cannot be configured with manual port-forwarding, which is a shame, since it would otherwise be an excellent budget ADSL router. Luckily, most software uses Plug-n-Play for automatic forwarding. Perhaps a future firmware upgrade will include this?
Talking of firmware: this is the most counter-intuitive ... ...fine if you know exactly what you are looking for to set up your ISP with this router, but if this is your first time, I would steer clear.
Nevertheless, has a decent range at home, and maintains the broadband connection without dropped connections. Does have to be restarted in order to change any settings, but since that is generally only done when initially set up, hardly a major problem.
A good choice for experienced networkers who don't need ...
