Advantages: Extremely Informative Disadvantages: Horror fatigue sets in in last third
How aptly named. Africa is truly in a state. "The State of Africa" is a shocking indictment of the collective failure of African countries to run themselves with a modicum of decency and efficiency. From the independence in 1957 of Nkrumah's Ghana, born in a haze of optimism as it was a well-run country blessed with minerals and rich agriculture to Mugabe's racist kleptocracy in Zimbabwe?.the last 50 years have been an unqualified disaster.
This book makes an interesting complement to Thomas Pakenham's "The Scramble For Africa" which dealt with the partition of Africa into colonies by rapacious Europeans. Pakenham is the better writer but the horrors perpetrated in the name of civilisation described in his book are piffling compared to those committed on "free" Africans by their kakistocratic leaders.
It is a difficult book to ...

A review of Aldi's Lamb Shanks in Rosemary and Mint Sauce.
The box said, "We have chosen the finest ingredients, combined with our passion for food, to offer you succulent lamb shanks slow cooked in an aromatic rosemary and mint sauce." So, I thought I would share with you my experience of these which were part of our Sunday lunch. Did they live up to their expectations? Was Aldi a good provider of quality meat for such an occasion?

So it has always been difficult for me to stop one particular kind of food, whether it be bread and carbs (atkins) or fats and mayo (rosemary conley)
So what is it exactly that Paul wants to tell us, which will make such a big difference that you may eat anything you like and still lose weight!?
Basically, Paul McKenna used to be a DJ and he was very good with people, although he had a very open and frank sense of humour. One day he came across hypnotherapy, got interested and that's when he came to his true calling.
He has been designing this "system" as he calls it, because it certainly is NOT a diet, for many years, roughly 13 years if I recall correctly.
He has been studying the behaviour, eating habits and exercising habits of "naturally thin people" for years and monitoring how they work.
Alongside, he has also ...

Manufacturer's product description
Fifty years of unparalleled success: an incredible 35 major trophies in five decades. But how was that success achieved? And how can those successes (and failures) be measured against one another? "Dynasty" sets the context for such analysis, examining the obstacles each manager faced and the fortune they had along the way. Which manager did the best job? What situation - and what players - did each inherit? What state was the club in, politically and financially? How expertly were they assisted by their coaching staff? How much did they spend, in relative terms? How did each of their signings pan out? What legacy did they bequeath? How dominant, rich and/or well-managed were rival teams? In addition to all this, there's a look at each Liverpool manager's record in the main competitions, as well as what they, and other key personalities, had to say, all of which make "Dynasty" the most complete assessment of the club during the ups and downs of the last fifty years.
