I'd heard all about Dyson vacum cleaners, they're stuffed into almost every ad break I've actually sat through, and they did sound good, but I'm fairly immune to manufacturers' wild claims about their products (although I have a bypass system for products involving bras which make boobs look bigger, and jeans which make bums look smaller!). Anyway, perhaps I'd better get back on the subject in hand..........! The model I have comes in five different ... ...--------------------------
When we brought the Dyson home, it was one of the rare days when I had hoovered before going out, and the living room carpet was perfectly clean, thankyou very much. It did not need doing again, but hubby had other ideas. Of course, any new shiny thing has to be unpacked, examined and tried out at the earliest opportunity, so after battling through the incredibly large amount of packaging in the box, we proceeded to set ...

Advantages: Great suction, no bags Disadvantages: none
...year since we brought our Dyson DC05 vacuum cleaner. We got it just before Christmas last year and it is great. We had chosen to get one of these after a recommendation from a friend who had recently brought one. We went to argos to buy it, but they are also available from many other electrical shops and even some supermarkets sell them. There were a number of different ones to choose from. They have upright vacuums and ones in various colours, but ... ...with a picture of the dyson on it. Advantages: Lightweight, no bags or filters to buy EVER, HEPA filtration means only clean air comes out, and a mega dirt sucker upper on carpet or hard floors, incl pet hair Disadvantages: ouch at the price new.
...dirt and germs that my dyson has rid my home of. WOW! WOW! WOW! Okay, enough with the dorkiness. Seriously, though, it must be a mountain of dirt and I don't even want to think of the germs the HEPA filter has trapped, and I know it has, because after using it for the very first time, we suddenly noticed the air smelled nicer in the house and we had NOT used carpet freshener!
Anyways, back to the Dyson. I first clapped eyes on the upright DC01 version ... ...there somewhere who had a Dyson for sale. We watched to see how much they went for. Finally, our day came. Excellent feedback, canister model (DC05) in the colour I wanted, and it had all its attachemnts. Used, it said, but partial loss of suction.Partial????? Oh well, we could probably sort that out.
Having bid and won the DC05, I was terribly excited the day it arrived. Lime green and deep purple , it was not as ugly as some models (yes, I DID ...

...DC05 a new model number, Dyson have simply added the affix to give the full model as DC05 Motorhead.
The Motorhead is designed to pick up pet-hair. As many of you already know, I have two Boxer dogs. Boxers have short coats and seem to moult constantly. The Motorhead combined with the vacuum removes all of the pet-hair from carpeting!
Judging from the dates of other opinions here on Caio, the DC05 has been around for a while now. I reckon the Motorhead ... ...Zorb insertion. Zorb is a Dyson product that is used for dry carpet cleaning. Simply sprinkle Zorb onto your carpet, use the Zorb setting to massage Zorb into carpet, wait 30 minutes then vacuum clean.
The DC05 comes with 3 additional attachments. These can be used in place of the Motorhead, or the entire telescopic arm can be removed and the tools can be inserted here. You get a stair tool, a crevice tool and a brush tool. When not in use, these ...

Advantages: No loss of suction, lightweight, need I go on. Disadvantages: The brushbar jams.
...the general construction on the Dyson were made more substantially than any previous vacuum he had owned.
The model we have has an airflow driven brushbar on one of its heads, this really does make the carpets come up clean. It is available as an extra for around £30.
For such a strong cleaner it is surprisingly light, just as well really as our new house has loads of stairs.
So much has gone into the design of these machines, the handle is on ... ...huge selling point for the Dyson is it does not have any bags that need changing instead you simply remove the body and empty the contents that it has collected. Yes it does seem true that you do not lose suction as it fills up.
Having been given a thorough work out in the last few months, we have noticed a couple of problems, one being the brushbar seems to jam and stick, the other being not so much a problem more an inconvenience. My other half ...

Going from the cheapest hoover Argos sold, all those years ago, to a DCO1 was heaven. I had never realised I was so dirty, seeing all the gunk that my previous vacuum had left behind, whizzing around was quite fascinating. Since then I have had a DCO4... more
