>>>A SHORT INTRO!<<<
There are various models in the DC07 range, so heres a bit of info to help you deicide! First is the basic model and cheapest one (grey and yellow) is for homes that are just carpeted. Then is the turquoise and grey model with a brush control switch to be used on hard floors. The turquoise and blue model is saidto have the better air filtration system called a hepa filter, which i was told is especially good for ashma and allergy sufferers. The top of the range purple model, The Animal is the vac that I opted for, having two dogs. I picked one up at a local electrical stockists for £259.99 ,a little expensive it may sound, but i`m convinced it was a bargain. It came in a rather big, black box, with a picture of the vacuum on the front, so i hoisted it into the car boot and drove all the way home.....
>>THE VAC ITSELF<<<
I unpacked my new purchase back at home, taking the various parts out of the box and fixing them into this brilliant cleaning device was a doddle. I even did it alone and you have to understand that i ain`t the most technical minded of people by a long stretch! The instructions included in the box make the Dyson assembly process really easy!
I clicked it into the upright and took a look at my shiny new vac, to be honest i can`t deicide whether i love of hate the way that Dyson vacs look. They are quite large and the colours of some of the other models are dire (lime green and silver surely doesn`t do it for anyone!) Anyway mine was purple and silver, so it wasn`t too bad and i quite like the way the duct spins round in the clear cylinder but thats a differnt story. I guess the look of everything is a matter of opinion anyway.
Well the Dyson Dco7 is very well designed, especially when you compare it to the old DC04. Sections of interconnecting plastic pipe can be slotted off in order to clear blockages ,a really well thought out feature, I thought. The Dyson DC07 is a bagless vacuum, so no more changing hoover bags(thank god!). The cylinder where the dust is collected is really easy to empty ,(an improvement on the old Dc01 that used to cover me in dust ) just point the bottom into the bin flick a switch and give it a quick shake. So far so good...
The three tube tools all tuck onto the main body of the vac neatly. The specialist animal tool can even be stored on top of the main handle. The vac is sort of bulky ,but that’s something I can get over ,what did I expect with a machine this powerful?? The reversible hose is a brilliant innovation, allowing maximum storage conditions and ease of use simultaneously.
I’d have to say though that the biggest disadvantage of this Hoover is the weight, when I bought it, the sales assistant (a big hefty guy) told me it was really quite light, wrong!!! It’s really heavy, like going to the gym trying to lift it up stairs!!!! Vacuuming with it is also quite hard work, but I suppose that the results can justify this. Don’t let this minor glitch put you off too much , the hose is so long that it almost reaches to the top of the stairs (apparently its 13 metres long!!)
>>>FEATURES<<<
The suction of the Animal is fantastic, and I’ve never had a vac as good before and I doubt I will again. After a quick once over, the carpet looks, literally as good as new. My house is completely hair free now, thanks to Dyson, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone with pets. I was disgusted when i first use it how dirty my carpets must have been, the thing needed emptying every 5 minutes!
The vac came with a two year guarantee which I thought was good ,considering a lot of appliances only give 1 year ,and fingers crossed I haven`t had any problems. All you need to do is fill out a form and post off back to them, and its all done.
The only maintenance you have to do is cleaning the filters ,simply by running them under a tap ,and let them dry overnight. They are called lifetime filters and thats exactly what they are. You don`t even need to buy hoover bags for this beast!
You aint had a vac till you`ve had a Dyson!!!
The website is www.dyson.co.uk ,its quite a colourful one and easy to navigate ,from here you can look at the products they do ,and try to understand the technology behind them! Dyson vacs can be bought almost all electrical shops but do tend to vary a lot in price, so shop around!
and if you get any problems , ring them on 08705 275 104 = 7 days a week or alternetively you can e-mail the service department at> service@dyson.com
thanks a lot! x
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Having purchased the Animal about 12 months ago, I concur with most of your comments. If I was to be ultra critical, it could have been a little more concise (but who am I to talk!) In a nutshell, the Animal is bright/gaudy to look at, has tremendous suction and cleaning power, is easy to assemble and clean, tool storage is very useful, but it weighs a ton.

Some of the colours used do make you think whether the designers had been out on an all-nighter prior to making the colour decisions!! Ste xx
