Dyson DC07 - Yellow Origin vs Turquoise Allergy models
I bought my DC07 yellow 'Origin' model, 5 and a half years ago and it has NEVER let me down. I am one of those sad people who actually enjoy hoovering and find it extremely satisfying (providing you have a vacuum cleaner that makes a difference!)
I usually hoover for a long time (often well over an hour) and leave the Dyson running for all that time; whereas many hoovers would not stand the test of time and burn out their motors, my DC07 never even blinks.
With strong suction and excellent brush action, the original yellow DC07 is easy to clean and maintain (the filter is quick to remove and wash/dry out); although the suction pipe has never blocked up for me, (I'm careful not to leave the odd sock or pair of tights on the floor to be swallowed up!) should something be sucked by mistake, there is no coat hanger poking down the pipe to push or pull it out as the DC07 has various easily removable sections that allow you to access the places where things would usually get stuck.
This hoover also does not fill your rooms with the smell of dust and old carpet debris like other hoovers - however full it gets, any odour stays trapped.
It is very simple to empty, has a lovely useful length power lead and suction pipe, the latter which is very quickly accessed and replaced.
A great range of essential tools come with it too (and these three basic tools cover all your everyday needs when hoovering carpet, upholstery, stairs, hard to reach corners and ceiling webs!
I have today aquired a turquoise DC07 Allergy model; however to compare this with my original yellow dyson I would have to say I am disappointed overall. Although the suction somehow appears even better than the Origin (proved only by the evidence of extra dust/debris collected AFTER initially using the yellow one, though the carpet already looked immaculate) - this must be the 'Allergy' extra you get with the turquoise model, excellent for hidden dust sufferers.
However the brush system of the Allergy is simply not comparable to the superb effect of the yellow original Dyson; I am someone who likes that 'newly hoovered' look of a carpet, when the hoover 'lines' the carpet pile back and forth like a striped lawn.
The other bonus with having a hoover which brushes effectively is that for older or cheaper carpets that flatten with time and wear (of which I have a couple), this flattening is reduced as the hoover brushbar on the Origin re-fluffs the pile and restores a newer look and texture.
The turqoise Allergy, apart from lifting the dirt barely touched the carpet pile.
I will therefore be keeping the turquoise Allergy only for occasional 'deep clean' hoovering and stick to new looking carpets from my trusted and impeccable yellow Origin.

Review of Dyson DC07
Advantages: Excellent Suction, perfect for busy households, customer service nearly excellent! Disadvantages: Expected the machine to last longer than four years, given the high purchase price!
