Advantages easy to use; not too heavy when going up or down stairs; the noise is bearable, not too bad.

Disadvantages none that I can think of.

I don't think I have seen a Dyson here in South Africa but the vacuum cleaner I have is an LG upright that looks a lot like the DC25.
I have found the machine to be very effective on all floor surfaces.
It is a bit noisy on the tile floors but it saves time; I need only one item instead of trailing around the house with a vacuum cleaner + broom + dustpan + hand broom.
The newer trend to do away with those messy and dusty bags that need to be emptied constantly is really the way to go.
Life is so much simpler just having to empty the container about once every 2nd week depending on the number of times a week you use it.
I clean the container under the tap after each trip to the bin to empty it. This stops any dust/dirt from clinging to the filter and also avoids any horrid smells while in use.
The built-in attachments are also easy to get to and work very well.
