Advantages: Easy to use, hepa filters Disadvantages: Dodgy for stairs
...Helmet had recently acquired a Dyson DC03 and had even given me a demonstration of its capabilities when I last visited his hovel. I was fairly impressed at its cleaning power but was more impressed at the filtration system (Hepa filter, whatever that means). Both my wife and I, and my oldest son suffer from Asthma, so I immediately became interested in the Dyson. A week later and my wife finally managed to loosen my vice-like grip on my wallet and ... ...quite easy to topple the Dyson over once you were only half way up.
I have been told that the older DC03 models have filters that only have a six month life span, our filters are washable which should save a bit of cash in the long run.
All in all I am very pleased with the DC03, it remains to be seen if it lasts the year out but at £230 it had better! Or it will be back to a dust-pan and broom!
The Dyson is available through most of the major ...

Advantages: Easy to use, with thorough cleaning and excellent air filters. Disadvantages: Poor balance. You can get dirty emptying the cylinder and some of the plastic parts break easily.
...as some of the other Dyson models, and any upright cleaner with built-in hose and tools is likely to be heavy. The first time you use it you wonder what filth you’ve been living in, as the cylinder fills very quickly. My carpets took on a new lease of life, which was a bit of a pity as I’d just about convinced my husband that some of them needed replacing!
There are two HEPA (a fancy way of saying “very effective”) filters. ... ...was paying for. After Dyson the problem has virtually disappeared, and so have the Vet’s holidays. He asked me how I’d done it, as one of his dogs has the same problem - and now he has a DC03! I didn’t even charge him for the consultation.
Snags? Well, yes, there are some.
1. Poor balance. I discovered this when I was using the hose on the stairs, with the DC03 at the top. It was greatly attracted to me, and we ended up having ...

Advantages: Light Weight, No Bag Required, Doesn't block so easily Disadvantages: Strange Colour Scheme
I haven't used a Dyson very often since I don't own one at home, however recently they purchased one at work. This was the upright version, unlike the rest of our fleet that weren't uprights. Working as a Banqueting Waiter at weekends, I often have to vacuum large areas of carpet in relatively sort periods of time. For this reason this review is more specific for regular heavy-duty use over large areas.
The original and current vacuums we had/have ... ...When I first saw the Dyson I thought wow, this will make the job a lot easier, despite it having a purple and yellow colour.
Upon its use however I found that it wasn't quite as good as the previous vacuums. This wasn't so much because the vacuum wasn't good at vacuuming, but more that it wasn't designed for large areas.
The problems I found were that because it was an upright it took longer to use. Each sweep took more energy since you had to ...

Advantages: great suction power, deep cleaning Disadvantages: weak attachments, cleaning is messy
...pleased to see that the Dyson range of cleaners lived up to their reputation(hype) in this respect. They claim that the use of a dust collector, such as this has, will save you money because you do not have to buy bags anymore as with other cleaners. This is true, but emptying out this compartment can be a messy business - you are likely to end up covered in the contents of your floor the first couple of times you try to ever so gently tease the ... ...buying bags. The Dyson DC-03 comes with a very long lead and hose which has the added bonus of being able to reach most areas of your home without too much plug swapping. However, the vacuum itself does not get right up to the edges which is a disappointment and requires you to use the tool attachments around all the edges. There are three accessories provided as standard. One for cleaning edges and small spaces, one for upholstery and curtains and ...

...I have had my Dyson upright vacuum cleaner for two months now and I have experienced my carpets being cleaner and softer than they have ever been before! I use my DysonDC03 for the entire floor cleaning in my house and it has not failed or disappointed me yet.
I use my DysonDC03 for removing my dog's hairs from the floor and the sofa; it has not failed yet in removing every last one! I also use my vacuum for picking up cigarette ash from ash trays; this excuses me from the horrible job of touching my partner's ash.
The vacuum is also very good at cleaning the stairs; it sits perfectly on the stairs while I clean and it quite easily travels up a step when I pull it.
When I am not using the cleaner I store it under the stairs, it fits perfectly with room to spare. When ever I need to carry the DysonDC03 it is simple as it is so light...

Advantages: Light and easy to maneuver Disadvantages: lost suction, parts breaks easily
...At first this was great, light, easy to move, goes flat so easy to hoover under furniture and the hose reaches most of the way up stairs. However, when I needed to hoover the stairs without taking the cleaner upstairs to finish of the top the hose broke, so much for them saying you CAN do the whole stairs. Just after a year (odd that) the wand broke.
Also it DOES lose suction. It is almost as hard work to hoover the carpets now as it was with a regular hoover, anything that isn't just laying on top of the carpet wont be sucked up you have to go over and over the same bit to get them clean.
We have put in all new filters (supposedly lifetime only needing washing-which we did as per instructions) and no difference -very weak suction compared to when it was new. We rang Dyson customer service who said it would be around £35...

...with their waste products and it’s actually the waste products (didn’t I put that nicely?) which provoke an allergic reaction. It happens in dogs but more commonly in humans and it can cause an asthma attack.
For several years our main weapon in the war against the house dust mite has been a DysonDC03 and although it was good it did have drawbacks. The main one was that emptying the cylinder usually meant that you got at least some dust blown back onto you and it seemed pointless to vacuum only to bring some of the dust back into the house on your clothes so that the dogs could inhale it more easily. It could also only be good in those areas which it could effectively reach and it wasn’t as good as it might be on edges or on stairs. Reluctantly we took the decision to upgrade to the DC07 Animal.
Why reluctantly? Well the best deal I could...
