I first purchased my Dyson DC04 to replace my good old Henry hoover which finally gave up the ghost after 6 years of great service. I thought I would try out the hoover that I had heard so much about and my friends had been raving about.
I toddled off down to my local Savacentre and paid £135 for my Dyson (you can now get this model for about £40 re conditioned). When I got home it was time first opinion's were that it look's great and the idea of a bagless hoover was brilliant so I turned it on and gave it a quick test run around the living room and with the amount of kid's I have it didn't take long to notice how well it sucked almost pulling the carpet up. A great feature was that you could also see what you were hoovering up and see just how much crap lives within a living room carpet.
Once I had finished and been very happy with it I done the rest of the house going up the stairs was very easy due to the telescopic hose and crevice tools which are all built in to the top of the hoover. However the hoover itself had no need to leave the floor which I am thankful for as it is quite heavy certainly heavier than my old Henry.
After hoovering every surface using all the setting's for hard floor and carpet I decided to empty the bin on it to see just what sort of crap get's left behind by other hoovers and it was disgusting. The bin was full of everything I could never find lol jigsaw pieces, £2.67 in small change and even a earring belonging to my wife of course lol that had not been see for about a year.
After emptying the bin and giving the filter a quick dust off I put it all back together very happy with my purchase. I have now had the same Dyson for 5 years and it is still going strong only having had 2 services on it which cost me £25 a time but well worth it.
I have also purchased more recently the Car tool set for the DC04 and what a buy that was at only £35 I got 3 tools ideal for cleaning the car another area the kid's completely trash lol. A hard brushed tool for getting all that dried mud up, a car turbine head which is great for cleaning the seat's of the car and a crevice tool that is small enough to get into all those nooks and crannies between the seats.(I usually find all my small change down there so ideal that you dont have a bag easy to recover from the bin lol.
The internal filter can be washed just simply remove and run under the tap and all the internal parts can be reached through easy dismantling should you want to give it a regular good clean up as I do or if you get anything stuck in the pipes(you wouldn't believe some of the things I have found lol) Unfortunately and surprisingly the DC04 does not have an auto wind for the cable but this is a small price to pay for the quality of the hoover and the price you can now get it for ideal for the person that wants quality on a budget.
The DC04 is quite noisy which I have been informed is not the case with the newer model's but I will stick with the DC04 as it has been very good to me and lasted a very long time and still going.
Here are some general specifications for the DC04
Upright Hoover, 1200 Watts (feels Loads More), Filter system, 4 Litre Capacity, Weigh's 8kg, Upholstery Brush, Crevice Tool and Edge Cleaner all included in the on board caddie.
Overall I would recommend this hoover to anyone who is like I said looking for a great hoover on a budget and the only real fault I can find with the DC04 is the lack of a wind system for the plug. The suction is amazing and still suck's as hard now as the first day I opened it I would not change it unless it completely gave up on me which thankfully with 5 children and 3 cats now it has not.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review and look forward to your comments.

I've been using the older DC02 model now for about 6 years, and I've been impressed with it all the time. If you're the slightest bit 'handy' you can keep them going for ages - you can even get the hub caps from the spares list. The only trouble I've had is that the conductor wire in the main cable fatigues around the entry point into the machine, after which you get intermittent running. The solution is to get into the switch box and shorten the cable by about 3 inches until next time. Done this twice now, but I intend to make this my personal project - keeping a Dyson going for ever!

I love my Dyson. I have a horrible feeling that it's coming to the end of its life. I'll be buying a new one as soon as it does. x
Advantages: Overall quality, Suction power, ease of use, company service standard, bagless, large model range. Disadvantages: Tools a bit fiddely, On the heavy side, unable to use on hard floors, price.
