Going from the cheapest hoover Argos sold, all those years ago, to a DCO1 was heaven. I had never realised I was so dirty, seeing all the gunk that my previous vacuum had left behind, whizzing around was quite fascinating. Since then I have had a DCO4 too. My experiences of both were extremely good. So no surprise that I should now choose to buy a DC14.
What? I'm just doing as Dyson do... moving with the times.
*****Dyson The Company*****
In June of 1993 James Dyson opened a research centre and factory in Wiltshire. There he developed the DCO1, the first in a range of cleaners that would give constant suction, the world's first bagless vacuum cleaner. Root cyclone has now been developed to give even higher suction and greater power to pick up dust from your home.
James Dyson is a man that likes to make things work better and with his research team he has produced products that have achieved sales of over £3 billion worldwide.
Now Dyson have also designed the first washing machine to have two drums, for more effective cleaning power. Dyson are constantly up-dating and enhancing their products.
*****DC14 all floors*****
I decided on this model above the numerous other Dyson's available, because of the 'all floors' facility. Like many people these days, I have tiled, laminate and carpeted floors in my home. Yes, you can sweep the hard floors but I find hoovering them much more effective. I figured that years ago when the Dyson was first designed, laminate floor wasn't the trend, so this new model, having been made specially for these floors, had to be better.
The only thing that makes 'all floors' different to any other DC14, is that it's brush bar can be turned off for delicate floors and rugs.
*****Appearance*****
At a glance we can see the all too familiar characteristics of Dyson products. Predominantly constucted from steel coloured grey sturdy plastic. This model has splashes of rather refreshing white and an opaque orange, along with the usual clear bin. In the upright design this DC14 looks both classy and masculine.
Right that's it, I want a pink one!
*****Features*****
>Brush control
>Telescope reach
>Root Cyclone technology
>Large debris channel
>2 year guarentee
>Approved for allergy sufferers
>Instant stair cleaning
>Car cleaning
>Auto carpet height adjustment
>Hygenic and quick to empty
>Clear bin
<Dual handle
>Motorised brushbar
>Edge cleaning whiskers.
>Lifetime filters
*****Filter*****
The hoover comes with a lifetime filter. As you might imagine, this needs cleaning every six months, or more often in some circumstances. Once the machine is turned off and un-plugged, the filter and case is easily removed and needs to be cleaned in cold water only, then left to dry for at least 12 hours. Unbelievably, even though this seldom needs doing, I still do find it a pain. Perhaps I'm just lazy... wait a minute, at least I am hoovering!
*****How does it Handle?*****
This hoover works like a dream. It glides effortlessly along hard floors or carpet, picking up well along the way. It could almost be going by itself (That will be Dyson's next invention).
Once turned on, you can feel the power beneath you, not too noisy, but noisy enough to be working eficiently, if you see what I mean.
The massive hose un-clips and extends easily, for stair cleaning like never before. The hoover remains stable at the bottom of the stairs while the hose doesn't even need to stretch to reach the top. I live in a three storey house, so know all about stair cleaning!
The tools supplied are much easier to attach and use than my previous to designs. Another improvement by Dyson. Although you can choose to buy additional optional tools, I feel that those included are sufficient.
*****Price and Availability*****
I purchased this Dyson for a fantastic price of £199.00 from Comet, however most places that I have looked are charging £269.00. Widely available at electrical stores, household stores, supermarkets or on-line.
*****Customer Service*****
A very good reason for purcahsing any Dyson, is the brilliant customer service and after sales which follows. Dyson will repair or replace any faulty machines free of charge, if they are still under guarantee. I have not needed to use this service, but believe it to be very good indeed.
If your machine is no longer under guarantee the Dyson's service tariffs are as follows;
Fixed charge repaie £55 (inc VAT) Fantastic, because you don't have to worry about some dodgy engineer conning you into an astronomical bill!
For £55 you will get; Full inspection of your machine by a Dyson engineer, All required parts replaced, full electrical safety test, an extreme polish and clean.
Consumable items, such as a filter, tools etc are however chargeable.
I have used the above service for a previous model and have to say that it was a good thorough service. The only problem that I experienced was with the engineer, who felt that he needed to give me a lesson in, 'hoovering' . Although I felt like telling him to get on with what he was being paid to do, I managed to smile sweetly until he'd finished.
Dyson also provide an on-line trouble shooting guide.

*****My Thoughts*****
Well, firstly, because Dyson offer such a good service repair system, you really only ever need to buy one Dyson. However, everything in life isn't about NEED, and luckily for me there is also a little thing called WANT.
This more recent model does have a lot more than the DCO1 though. I believe it's suction to be far greater and therefore it's cleaning power outstanding. It really picks the pile of the carpet up... you can see it working. On hard floors too, it has real efficiency. No blowing debris into corners, nothing escapes the DC14.
The hoover is very comfortable to handle, it is effortless. It clicks and un-clicks and extends and attaches very very well. Nothing is a struggle on this model.
Was the £199.00 that I paid for this DC14 worth it. What do you think?
Yes, I'd have paid more!
Thanks for reading. x

Advantages: upright, powerful, easy to use, good tool storage
Disadvantages: no cord rewind, awkward hose for stairs, bulky

Even though the dyson feels heavy at first, once switched on it glides easily and swiftly over the carpet, and brings the pile up beautifully. The weight of the unit actually helps with the cleaning, as the dyson does the hard work and keeps the downward force and suction while the user merely has to guide the dyson around. Dyson DC14 a powerful sucker!
Review of Dyson DC 14 ALL Floors Silver&white&yello by
tigerthecat
Advantages: Bagless, powerful, 5 year warranty, great suction.
Disadvantages: No cord auto cord rewind.
...and all floors versions.
Dyson claim that it never loses suction, and I have to say (at present) is completely true.
The Features:
Root Cyclone Technology.
This means that it maintains powerful constant suction, so that you get deep down clean.
Telescope Reach Wand.
This enables you to reach high places without having to assemble awkward parts. The wand has quick release and expands for instant cleaning.
The vacuum cleaner is approved by the ... ...allergies.
Filters.
Dyson DC14 as with all Dyson cleaners has lifetime washable filters.
The pre-motor filter removes down to 0.1 micron of dust particles, added to this the post-motor filter traps harmful carbon emissions from the motor, thus making it more environmentally friendly.
Bagless.
As with all Dyson's this is a bagless cleaner and this makes for less work as no messy bags to dispose of. Instead it has a clear plastic bin which holds ...

Dyson not hoover
Review of Dyson DC 14 ALL Floors Silver&white&yello by
Senter104
Advantages: Power, vaersatility, suction
Disadvantages: weight (minor disadvantage)
Having own the original style Dyson some years ago, I had an idea what to expect with the acquisition of the DC 14 when my old hoover's wheels literally came off (wasn't a Dyson by the way).
The new Dyson clicked together in a few minutes, I even followed the instructions, and within a minute of registering the Dyson on line for the 5 year guarantee I was hoovering away.
The DC 14 boasts some excellent features not least the 1400 w of suction which ... ...waste management system on the Dyson is again a triumph of style and simplicity over hygiene. By grasping the handle of the clear waste tube and clicking the button with your thumb, it comes away in one unit and a simple press of the button unlatches the bottom and the waste simply drops into the dustbin - no hassles.
'They are so heavy though' I hear you cry, well yes they are quite heavy and if you need to get it upstairs it can be difficult, ...

Advantages: Manageable
Disadvantages: iffy results on different surfaces
...several salesmen plumbed for the dyson dc14ss
It cost us about 195 quid expensive I thought but this beauty will last or so I thought.
Its a nice looking bit of kit but all iI wanted it todo was suck I was not dissappointed it sucked in a big way.
Admittedly is was a few months later when we noticed that it was failing to cope, infact we had to remove the end tool and just leave the open ended hose before it sucked to our satisfaction.
Ww eventually ... ...green men from the planet Dyson we borrowed a friends vacuum to try.
A dear little vacuum with a funny face drawn on it I think its called a "HENRY" what a nice little uncomplicated cleaner this is
did the job,easily
We relagated the dyson to vacuming out the debris in our fish pond and yes you guessed it bought a "Henry " Moral of this tale,
Don't always believe the advertising ...
