We moved house recently and inherited carpets that well you could say were in need of a good clean, our exsisting vacuum cleaner was well passed its sell by date. We decided to invest in a cleaner that would last and be powerful enought to do this job. We headed off to our local shopping centre and after having talked to several salesmen plumbed for the dyson dc14ss It cost us about 195 quid expensive I thought but this beauty will last or so I thought. Its a nice looking bit of kit but all iI wanted it todo was suck I was not dissappointed it sucked in a big way. Admittedly is was a few months later when we noticed that it was failing to cope, infact we had to remove the end tool and just leave the open ended hose before it sucked to our satisfaction. Ww eventually found the instruction book replaced the filters {not cheap}I checked none of the hose' s were blocked. Tried again it sucked a little bit better but vacuuming was now turning into a chore, especialy the stairs where this kit was really a pain to drag. It was our routine to vacuum the house top to bottom on a Saturday,it shoud have taken about 2 hours with this thing after three and a half I was worn out. At nearly 200 quid for this useless article to say I was peed off is understating it.. Just to prove it was the cleaner and not the carpet, us or little green men from the planet Dyson we borrowed a friends vacuum to try. A dear little vacuum with a funny face drawn on it I think its called a "HENRY" what a nice little uncomplicated cleaner this is did the job, easily We relagated the dyson to vacuming out the debris in our fish pond and yes you guessed it bought a "Henry " Moral of this tale, Don't always believe the advertising

Excellent review, you have said exactly what we thought. The hoover we purchased has been consigned to the garage and we have gone out and bought a hoover that does pick up and has some suction. We had the DC07 before we purchased this one and I wish to god I had read your review before purchasing, as I would have kept it and not given it away.Your article was spot on and to the point. I think you should send a copy of it to Dyson as well....perhaps we should just send all the hoovers back to them as well. An excellent review and with hindsight.............say no more I will read more reviews on this site.
