Having own the original style Dyson some years ago, I had an idea what to expect with the acquisition of the DC 14 when my old hoover's wheels literally came off (wasn't a Dyson by the way).
The new Dyson clicked together in a few minutes, I even followed the instructions, and within a minute of registering the Dyson on line for the 5 year guarantee I was hoovering away.
The DC 14 boasts some excellent features not least the 1400 w of suction which is pretty awesome expecially when you consider none of that suction is lost as the waste receptical fills. There are no hoover bags to worry about and therefore no loss in suction.
The waste management system on the Dyson is again a triumph of style and simplicity over hygiene. By grasping the handle of the clear waste tube and clicking the button with your thumb, it comes away in one unit and a simple press of the button unlatches the bottom and the waste simply drops into the dustbin - no hassles.
'They are so heavy though' I hear you cry, well yes they are quite heavy and if you need to get it upstairs it can be difficult, there are smaller versions on the market which are easier to move around and might suit your lifestyle better. If however, you are able to move the beast around easily then you wont find a more effective and attractive 'hoover' than this. Its other main benefit is the ease in which you can do the stairs. The hose extends fully to the top of a normal flight of stairs and with the attachments that come with it the stairs are a doddle.
I cannot praise this machine highly enough.

Advantages: None that I can think of. Probably ok as a light duty cleaner in a no pet household Disadvantages: Blocks and is cumbersome and heavy to use
