My experience
My personal reason for using this cream was for treatment for something that I call 'Toadskin'. Some people in the summer suffer from something called Prickley Heat. This is where the sweat glands become blocked and cause a reaction where the skins becomes blotchy and inflamed, small bumps form under the skin and become very itchy, sore and generally uncomfortable. I, however, suffer from something similar in the winter. This is twice I have suffered from this now and after seeking medical advise the first time I found out this is due to excessive central heating as when it is on high the air becomes very stuffy and dry. Last week I made several complaints at my workplace about the heating being on to high, by the Thursday my face had become red and swollen. By the time I got home I could hardly open my eyes from the swelling and it was so itchy I couldn't bare it. I took antihistamines which are the well known treatment for Prickley Heat and many other allergies and rashes. These were recommended by my doctor and the swelling did go down and some of the redness but I was still left with the bumps under the skins, itching and severe sore dry patches that felt like sandpaper and were starting to crack around my nose, mouth and eyebrows.
The active ingredients in this cream are obtained from the wool of a sheep and can also be known as wool fat. It is a waxy substance which provides a layer of oil on the skin to prevent water evaporating from the skins surface and allowing the natural skin oil (sebum) and broken down skin cells to be replaced.
Where can you find it?
The first time I suffered with this my friend who has eczema gave me some of this cream and it worked a treat so I did not hesitate to get some this time round. This cream is easily available and I would consider also very cheap. I bought it from Wilkinsons for £1.89 for a 50g squeezy tube. You can also get this from most supermarket or chemists. It comes in a white tube clearly stating dermatological E45 cream on the front and clearly stating what it is used for. I also noticed that you can buy another type especially for itchy conditions though this is slightly more expensive (£2.99) and I thought I would stick to this type as I had more symptoms than just itchiness.
Application
When I liberally applied the cream my skin felt instantly more comfortable. The itchiness and soreness was soothed straight away. Although the cream states that it is a non-greasy cream I found that it does feel quite greasy. It is a thick cream which is quite hard to absorb it into the skin and I found it does leave a slight shine in the surface but in my opinion as I was so uncomfortable it was well worth it. Although it does feel slightly greasy it didn't feel like it was clogging my pores up and I wasn't left with any spots which is what I usually get when I use greasy creams. The tube states that it is non perfumed and it really doesn't smell of anything at all so I was confident it wouldn't irritate me anymore. I used this cream 3 times a day as recommended on the instructions. I started using this cream on Friday morning and now my skin is back to normal so it took around 3 days to repair it.
Would I recommend this cream?
Yes! - This is a must for anyone who has suffered any of these symptoms for whatever the cause. People with more serious conditions have probably heard of this cream anyway as I believe it is widely used and has been going for some time but until last year I had never really had a skin complaint like this so had never heard of it. After a bit of research I also found out that there is a range of E45 products available including shampoo for itchy scalps and bath products. It is advised that if any conditions continue then medical advice should be sought. Thankfully it has worked for me so no trips to the doctor this time round and I no longer look like our amphibian friends!
Advantages: good for all sorts of dry skin conditions, the most efective moisturiser I've found Disadvantages: slightly more expensive than other brands
...my mother introduced me to E45 - she suffers from dry skin in the same places, and told me it works marvels. Great, I thought, I'll give it a go.
E45 is an unperfumed and non-greasy emollient cream produced by Crookes Healthcare, who also manufacture Strepsils, Nurofen and Clearasil. The E45 brand has apparently been around since the 1950s and is still going strong today.
As I said before, E45 is an emollient, this being a highly effective medical ... ...other creams do. E45 is used to treat and soothe many different dry skin conditions, including dry, itching, flaking or chapped skin, as well as sunburn and detergent hands. Not only this, but is it recommended for other, more serious dry skin conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and ichthyosis. The cream is suitable for all the family, including babies, for whom it can be a great soother of nappy rash.

Advantages: Really is a wonder product Disadvantages: None
E45 is another wonder product as are many other products manufactured by Boots.
Boots developed E45 many years ago, it was approximately the 1950’s when it was developed and it is still their own product to this day and is manufactured on a daily basis so it is still doing very well.
Crookes Healthcare is a division owned by Boots Healthcare International and they manufacture E45 under this division, along with other massive brands such as Nurofen, ... ...body washes and the actual E45 cream itself. All of the products are used for the same purpose, to soothe, soften and relieve dry and sensitive skin conditions.
E45 is available in a variety of sizes ranging from a 50g tube, a 125g screw top tub or a 500g pump action tub. The 500g tubs are quite expensive, but are well worth every penny. Please do not quote me on this but I think the 500g tubs are between £5-£6, where as the tubes cost between £1.50-£2.

Advantages: Helps control dry skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis. Disadvantages: No fragrance, but that is understandable.
Hi, E45 cream I feel is sometimes under rated. It is rare that you see this product on the top shelf. But it is a very good product.
My son has used E45 since he was a bady and now he is 13 years old. I have also used it myself. I have seen results on blemishes on my face and arms.
Also very good for insect bites. If you are one of those people that insects just love to bite, like myself. Whilst I was on holiday and when I came back from my holiday ... ...use of this product.

...recommended by the Doctor
E45 is one of those products that seems like it has been around forever but was actually developed in the 1950’s. Since then it has been a trusted product and is known for being gentle and effective.
So when I was searching Boots for the perfect moisturiser, the first brand that came to mind was not surprisingly E45.It is available in all sorts of forms, including the cream itself obviously, lotions, hand creams ... ...your face. I use the E45 junior cream on my face as I have quite sensitive skin that can be oily but also a little dry sometimes too… how confusing but trust me, it true! So I use the cream to clear up the dry patches but as it is non greasy, hypoallergenic and moisturising, it controls all three problems. It claims to rehydrate the skin and protect it from further drying out, which is certainly does if it is used on a day to day basis.
It ...

Advantages: It sorted out my dry skin problem very quickly, I could see results as soon as I started using it. Disadvantages: n/a
...remebered that I had some E45 cream knocking about which my mum used to swear by when she had dry skin.
I dug around for a while and finally found it. I then applied some to the skin on my hands and face (it is suitable for all over your body and it is sometimes used by eczema sufferers), the cream soaked into my skin really easily leaving it feeling soft, smooth and better than it had been for a while. I applied the cream two or three times a day ... ...it worked then left it for a couple of days to see if my skin stayed supple. My skin did stay feeling pretty supple for that time and after the couple of days were over I began to use it again but this time one once a day, twice if I really needed to.
If there is anyone out there suffering from a dry skin condition and are having a bad time trying to remedy it then I would strongly suggest buying some of this and see how you go with it. The product ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "E45 Dermatological Cream (Dry Skin)"
Suffering from extremely dryskin I have searched what seems like an eternity to find a product which can relieve some of the more unpleasant side-effects that can often accompany this condition, particularly as I work in a relatively hot environment which tends to further exacerbate the situation. Most people have heard of E45Cream in some form or another however the product that I will be reviewing here is DermatologicalE45Cream Treatment for DrySkin Conditions 50g.
What is it?
DermatologicalE45 Is an extremely effective and pleasant cream to use. The manufacturers claim that it has been clinically proven to treat and soothe dry, itching, flaking, chapped rough and calloused skin. It can also be used in the treatment of sunburn which I must admit I had been unaware of until I was doing a little research around this product ...
Advantages: inexpensive, good for all skin conditions, hypoallergenic Disadvantages: none
WHAT IS E45?
E45Dermatologicalcream is an excellent product if you have dryskin, or eczema like I have. The cream itself is a non greasy emollient cream, which is light and unperfumed, which means that it can be used all over your body including your face.
It is hypoallergenic,(which is the key thing, I think) perfume-free, colour-free, non-greasy and non-sticky and easily absorbed. It should be applied to the face and body, rubbed in gently and used daily as required.
It contains several active ingredients including
White soft paraffin BP 14.5% w/w,
Light liquid paraffin ph Eur 12.6% w/w,
Hypallergenic Lanolin 1.0% w/w.
It says on the back of the tube that E45 products are suitable for dryskin, chapped skin, sunburn, itchy Skin , flaky skin, and detergent hands (good excuse not to wash up, I always say!) Also ...
Advantages: Great for dry, sensitive skin and serious skin conditions like eczma Disadvantages: Absolutely none
