a lucrative franchise. As you'd expect there's a highly polished front end, with all the key international teams and stadia to choose from and various all-star squads to unlock as you progress though the game, and unlike in previous versions, you can now play a Test match or series rather than just one-day competitions.Gameplay-wise, we've been here before. As inBrian Lara Cricket/Cricket 2000, you pre-select your shot from a number of options or set the length, line and speed of your delivery. You can now micromanage your fielders or let the computer AI set the (supposedly) best field for you. Variations in pitch and weather conditions are meant to ensure a different experience whether you use your spin or pace bowlers.Unfortunately, you never feel that you're actually in control of the proceedings. You can get your opponent out with an absolute shocker of a ball or, conversely, toil away for hours with your best bowlers to no effect. You can line up an excellent shot just to see the ball pop tamely into the hands of a fielder and, even worse, be given out when the ball is nowhere near him. You can also be judged LBW when the ball has pitched nowhere near you. It's all very random, and not even extensive net sessions help; it's much better to play against a human opponent, which at least makes the game a contest dependent on skill rather than luck.Graphically, too,Cricket 2002is wanting. Cricketers may or may not be the most photogenic of sportsmen, but this bunch look like they've shuffled in from the latestResident Evilepic. Some of the player animation, particularly the fielding, is jerky and incomplete and the crowd is disappointingly two dimensional.Given these caveats, can this game be recommended to cricket fans? Actually, in the absence of an update to the seminalBrian Lara Cricket, probably yes--if only because there are no other options available. If you can get beyond the peculiar umpiring and the disappointing graphics there's a playable arcade romp here, particularly in the multiplayer mode. However, if you're looking for an accurate simulation of this noble sport then you'll be disappointed because, in this sense, it just isnt cricket.--Michael Bartley

EA Cricket 2002 certainly met my expectations - the graphics are excellent, the range of teams and players in unrivalled and the gameplay is generally very good. So crickets not the most popular sport in England; many people think of it as boreing and who can blame them when half the test matches finish in draws or defeats for England!?. However the one day game is much more attractive and on a strategic and skill level i feel cricket is way above football, rugby or probably any other sport.
That said I am a cricket fan and the current world cup was just what was needed to regain my interest. Despite Englands early departure (due to politics i might add!) its been an entertaining world cup with a few upsets and some great games.

Installation
Installation is fairly quick and simple and it offers to different levels: "mimimum" which ues around 30MB Hard Disk Space (this installs everything except sound and in game movies) and "Full" which uses 500MB Hard Disk Space (and installs all files).
Minimum System Requirements
PII 300Mhz 64MB RAM 300MB HD space 8MB Graphics card
Game modes and teams
You can play both one day and test cricket. In the one day form you can play the world cup, shajarah or one off games. The one day form is either 10, 20 or 50 overs long. With the test matches you can play one of or 3/5 Match Series. All tournaments/test matches give detailed player statistics (averages/runs/wickets/catches etc.) so you can see whos performing and who isn't. There are all the major test playing nations plus a few others and most of the teams are accurate and up to date.
Gameplay
Overall the gameplay is very good. For the batsman there are loads of different shots available - about 20 in all i think. Bowling is less varied - there are about 5 different types of bowler available and you can control the spin on the ball, the length you bowl it and speed it is bowled. It is also possible to control the fielding and also the field set up. It is a game that takes a while to master, the bowling can be particularly difficult and it will be a while before you can bowl out Australia! The main downside to the gameplay is that some of the umpiring decisions can be dubious to say the least and also the fielding can be frustrating in that its extremely difficult to run out the opposition (though i get run out all the time!). There are a number of in game statistics (run rates/spider graphs and all) which help in improving your performance.
Graphics
Undoubtedly the best graphics of any cricket game on the market. The players are very detailed and your sure to recognise your favourite players. The grounds and pitches are also excellently detailed although the crowd could do to be improved.
Sound
Most of the in-game sound is very good but the commentary can become very repetetive and sometimes you just wish that the commentators would keep quiet for a while rather than repeat over and over again!

Advantages: Great graphics, no big technical bugs involved. Disadvantages: Takes very long between balls, bowling can get boring.
...appalling effort with Cricket 2000, EA Sports has cracked the code for PC Cricket games. This one was a far better effort, and it has finally raised the bar higher than the likes of Brian Lara’s Cricket and Shane Warne's Cricket '99.
The graphics are great, typical EA Sports, the commentary mostly relevant, and real cricket rules are followed. You can get out almost all of the possible ways that you can today in cricket, excluding hit wicket and ... ...doesn't have all of the EA Sports tricks that were used in the FIFA series, because the only way you can make your own player is by changing a current players name, but you can't change the players looks, skill, bowling style. If Mark Waugh were to be dropped for Darren Lehmann now, you would have to have Lehmann a stroke player, an opener in the one dayers, and a slips fieldsman. Note that they still have the Waughs in the one dayers.
The range ...

Advantages: Good Graphic. Disadvantages: Can Get Boring
Since cricket 2002, which admittedly was good for when it was released but got boring after a while, this game has many improvements from it. I'll just say now that i would give it 4.5 but as you can't.....
Anyway, the new features on it are full English and Australian, County and State teams, which you can play full seasons in, for instance thats the frizzell county championship (4 day matches) the Cheltnham and Gloucester cup (50 over matches) ... ...Aussie version. There are also on the now expected from sport game updates, much improved graphics and I was glad, and I'm sure many others will be that in this game, unlike cricket 2002, they don't run like spackers!!!
This year there is a definate sense of more interactivness with bowlers and fielders, for instance when you are bowling, if you keep bowling it consistanly in the right spot, you are likely to pick up a nick, while with the previous, ...

Advantages: Real life situations, commentry by Benaud, Entertaining Disadvantages: Can be boring after long run
After seeing the name EA Sports I was somewhat sure that the product is going to be something extra ordinary. And trust me, it is. CRICKET 2002 is a complete entertainer. It has world cup mode, tournament mode, friendly more, and of course, training ground mode.
Using it for the first time could be difficult, as you may have to constantly look at your controls to get adjusted with the keys. But you can customize the keys anytime you want, to have ... ...almost all types of operating systems, at least I’ve seen it running in three different OS. This doesn’t require any video card or sound card to play to its full capacities.
About the interface, it is good to view the real time scenario and the almost accurate commentary by Ritchie Benaud. Right from the toss, till the last ball of your innings, he is there with his commentary. High player likeness and a well-built player database helps ...

Advantages: the grapics r great Disadvantages: It's a bit expensive
...news for cricket lover because EA sports have launched a new cricket game called Cricket 2002. This game is the best cricket game EA sports have ever launched. It is being a great hit amongst cricket lovers. The reason why I think it is being popular because it is very realistic, it has a great quality picture, you can now play test matches and sharjah tournaments unlike the previous cricket game created by EA sports.
The previous game used to be ... ...not even been bowled. But EA sports have really worked hard and have made sure that it is not the case. The other great news is that cricket 2002 is also on PC, so for those who havent got a Playstation can enjoy this game on PC. The only downside is that it's expensive, but if you are devoted to cricket it's worth buying it. ...
