Graduating from the hit- and miss knockout king series. Ea changed its tactics and introduced fight night in 2004 - the boxing titles were never the same again. The latest next- gen iteration arguably provides the most realistic boxing game ever.

With no competition on ps3, as it looks like ubisoft aren't bothering to bring their rocky license to the console, it wouldn't be that surprising if ea didn't work as hard on fight night as it perhaps might. Thankfully that isn't the case and, as the xbox360 version has demonstrated, fight night really one of the jewels in the publisher's crown.

Total punch control - introduced in the first fight night version has demonstrated, fight night - returns and gives a greater influence over punching that any button combination ever could. While unwieldy at first, the use of the right analogue stick to punch is far more intuitive and satisfying than using buttons. For those unfamiliar with the system you push up and right to throw a right jab and up and left to throw a left jab. Other punches follow a similar idea, with the analogue sick axis being put to use the uppercuts and hooks. it does take time to become accustomed to the method and no doubt you'll take a pummeling in the first few fights, but once you get the hang of it the buttons will seem so simplistic and limited that you'll never want to use them again.

The game play itself has been slowed down somewhat from previous versions , which serves to make the experience a more measured and tactical affair, rather than the blur of fists that earlier versions degenerated into. Parrying and counterpunching is more important than ever, with skilled blocking an absolute must, unless you pick a fighter such as la motta or hatton who can take large amounts of punishments without going down.

this is the end of my review today bye bye an i hope you liked it.
