I have a very good little carbon monoxide detector called the E1 Carbon Monoxide Alarm and I paid £26 exactly for this about four years ago. I bought it because I watched a documentary on the television set about a lady and all her family who had died in their home from poisoning from this gad and it frightened me a lot. I bought it when me and my daughter went to B&Q. I have it attached to the wall in the living room and it rests on my wooden sideboard. I thought this was the best place to put it because this is where my gas fire is.

This will save my life I think if I have a leak and I feel more reassured that it is there and it is working fine. It came with a two-year guarantee but I have had it for four years now and I think it is still working fine. The gas mad had a look at it when he did my boiler and he even said it was a good make.

I think it is very reliable and it doesn’t look ugly in my living room, it just looks like a bit of a bulky light switch, I find. It has a little sensor in it that checks for CO every 50 seconds. If there is a fault on the system then the instructions say that the little amber fault light will flash every minute. It hasn’t ever done this.

I have to put in three AA batteries so there is no wiring needed and I was pleased about this. And it has a little light which flashes so I can see the batteries are still fine and I know it is working properly and as it should be.

It is made from plastic which is flame retardant and it came with the screw fittings and some very good instructions. I am very pleased I bought this lovely little monitor and it gives me good peace of mind to know that I won’t be poisoned by gas in my own home.
