The Sizzlin’ Barbeque is a great toy from the Early Leaning Centre. It costs £17.50 and is suitable for children of 3 years and above. It requires 3 X AA batteries, which are not included.

My daughter had the Sizzlin’ Barbeque for her birthday last summer. It is made from orange, green and blue plastic and has various accessories included.

There are foldaway plastic legs at the base of the BBQ, which when pulled out make a good sturdy base for the BBQ to stand on. When the legs are folded up it is very compact and there are compartments inside the BBQ, which can be lifted out for accessories to be stored underneath. The BBQ has a lid with a handle, which makes this one of my favourite toys as everything can be kept inside it making it very tidy and it can be carried around easily.

At the front of the BBQ there are 2 Knobs and an on/off switch for controlling it. These make the plastics coal effects inside the BBQ glow just like real coals and also make the sound effects like a real BBQ sizzling. There is a plastic igniter, which makes a clicking sound when pressed to make it appear that the BBQ is really being lit.

When the play food included with this toy is placed on the coals there is a sizzling noise that makes it sound like it is really cooking. The foods included are a sausage, a burger, a piece of lettuce, corn on the cob, 2 bread rolls and a ketchup dispenser. There are also tongs and a spatula and these together with the igniter hang up on the hooks on the inside of the BBQ when the lid is open.

During the summer last year my daughter had great fun playing out in the garden cooking the food and making up hot dogs and burgers. All the accessories make this a great toy for pretend play. She carried on playing with it in the house when she was not able to go outside so it has certainly been value for money. It is made of good solid plastic and has stood up to knocks well. She even tries to use it as a seat when the legs are folded away and the lid is closed.

Overall I would recommend this toy as it can give any child hours of fun.
