Off course it was from the Early Learning Centre, it is our favourite toy shop! Costing, £20 you get a large box which is open at the front allowing you to see the car. This toys was extremely hard to get out of all the packaging, so it is advisable to not have a tantrummy child to remove it before showing them the car!
The car itself is a sky blue colour, with a red rim round the bottom of the car. It is an open topped car with one seat. The seat is green. It also has a spoiler on the back too! This doubles as a carry handle which is handy for little hands! On the underneath at the back is a yellow exhaust. It's large like a boy racer car one!
You get a little person which comes with the car. These alone cost £5 and you could buy more to change them all over as they are all different. Also when the sounds go the lights, light up too! These are ok but not spectacular! It is also made of a smooth yet tough plastic which so far we haven't had any bits break off and if it can be broken you can be sure that Eilidh will break it!
Batteries are included in this toy and it has been used frequently by the buyer of this toy and haven't yet run out like other batteries which were in Christmas presents! The batteries go underneath the car just next to the the on/off switch! You need a screwdriver to get in and it was hard to get in! I needed hubs to open it for me to check what batteries were required for replacement! You need 3 AA batteries when they do finally get run down!
The car makes various sounds but doesn't really do anything. You can press the horn on the steering wheel to hear beep beep which is like a reved up sound off a horn. The little person fits into the seat and when you push down on the seat the car revs up the engine and prepares to move. The noise is loud and you can get a fright. Once the car is in driving gear it moves along the floor and then suddenly brakes and stops again. It doesn't move for more than about 10 seconds at the very most. At the end there is a little giggle as though the driver had fun. The noises are all very real and are also very loud! Murray was put off the car at first when he pressed a button at first and it took a few weeks before he would go near it again!
I loved this car when it was in the shop and I looked at it. But when it came to the crunch and we had one at home, I found it disappointing. The noises are loud and when in a small room in the house it can be mega loud and scared poor Murray! I later discovered that on the bottom is a small switch which would have switched it off as another thing that I didn't realise was the fact that it moved when you pushed the drivers head on push the button on the drivers seat! This was something that didn't go down well either with Murray. It makes the reving engine sound and then moves along the floor, this wasn't a strong point. An older child may find it fun but "Mr I Push My Own Cars Thank You" didn't see it like that and got very frustrated a few times with the car that he flun it away! He enjoys it better when I switch it off and allow him to play with it himself and no noises and no movement which he has no control over.
I do think it is an excellent car but that quite a few things could be altered to make it better for a child as young as 12 months as it is a bit much for them as my nephew has one too and he got frustrated with it too! Eilidh who is 4 loves the car and gets more enjoyment from all the things it does. One good thing is when you switch it on to silent, it doesn't lock the wheels like some cars do, so at least Murray still has use of his car when the sounds are switched off!
You find this in the baby section and it is at teh 12 months plus section! Check it out, you may like it better than me! There are various other things in the range like a transporter, beetle and a scooter. Murray may get a few more of these as time goes on!
The picture below is not Murray incase you are wondering but will try to get one with him and the car!
Advantages: Fun and encourages gross motor skills Disadvantages: Noisy
I love this product, and it's one of my best buys ever!
My first car is a big chunky car which runs on batteries which last ages and comes with a plastic figure which sits in the driving seat of the car. The figure makes a clicking sound when you move his head arms and legs and has a small orange button on his belly that squeeks when it's pressed.
What you do is you place the figure into the driving seat of the car pressing down as you do so. This ... ...the engine starts as it rolls across the floor. It stops and then you hear a childs laugh as the engine stops, and the car comes to a halt.
It's brilliant and my son had great fun playing with it.
It's idea for a child who is attempting to crawl or take he's or her's first steps. As the child can't help but try to move after the car as it drives away.
It's great value for money suitable for either a girl or a boy. Only downside is there is no ...
