Advantages: cheap,easy to use.

I decided that I wanted a computer about 1 year ago. I didn’t really need one for anything specific, I just liked the idea of exploring the net, finding out information about products and services, and most of all I wanted to get song lyrics off of the web so I could print them out. (I’m Karaoke mad) On my 22nd Birthday I decided that I was going to go and treat myself to one. I went to Curry’s and brought a computer package deal. ...

Review of Emachines eTower 700 by nwilson

Advantages: Errrrrrrrr..... price
Disadvantages: Noisy, slow, hangs up mysteriously

It was about ten months ago when I finally got my first home PC – we had a baby on the way and I was getting a digital camera for Christmas, so putting two and two together I paid a visit to my local PC World. I had a budget in mind of £700 to £800 – all I really needed was something for general use, storing photos, surfing the net, etc. The sales assistant advised me to go for the e-machines model; I hadn’t heard of them but he ...
...I decided to go for the e-tower, 733 Mhz Celeron processor, 15Gb memory, 64 Mb RAM. This also included a Lexmark Z22 printer, a HP 2100C scanner and a workstation. The full package cost me £750. Installation was easy, but the first thing I noticed upon boot-up was the excessive whirring noise of the hard drive. I use PC’s daily at work, but none so loud as this! What the hell, I thought, I’ll just play background music to drown it out. ... Read review

eTower Celeron 700
Review of Emachines eTower 700 by Bill-S

Advantages: Small mini ATX, upgrades to 933Mhz
Disadvantages: No AGP slot/ two USB 1.0 only/ memory limit

...hasten to add the largely faulted power supply with emachines directly, they use OEM brands for these. Because you buy it pre-assembled, you are entitled to refunds and servicing of course. Speed issues result from space within the drive, and memory limit issues. 256MB is good for Win9x computers. ... Read review

For those who don't need to know what great is?
Review of Emachines eTower 700 by LJuk-svy

Advantages: Easy to upgrade, simple to use, comes with everything a basic computer needs
Disadvantages: Not fast, getting outdated

It is a fabulous computer and has been since it came out. It is strong and reliable and comes with pretty much everything you need to get a computer up and running. However, in today's market, it lacks the speed to run the latest software. That's why I recommend it to anyone who just wants a cheap, reliable computer to do internet surfing and emails on. If you can, I suggest you upgrade the RAM to 128or 256 (its limit) and install XP or otherwise ...
...doesn't come like that). The more RAM the better. I also would avoid recommending it to people who upgrade computers as it has some harsh limitations like you can only upgrade the processor a bit, the RAM to 256, etc. The cost of the RAM upgrade now is about 2x£30 128MBs, that takes it up to its limit. XP will cost about £60-90 depending on the licence. Mine came with a build-in modem which is a particular benefit for those who want simple internet ... Read review

My new computer
Review of Emachines eTower 700 by mantha5

Advantages: modern looking
Disadvantages: dust shows!

My partner and myself had been discussing getting a computer for quite a while. In the end we went to the store and chose our e machines 380. We've had it afew days now and although its early stages i dont regret purchasing it at all. My parents have a computer and so having one of my own is fantastic. My e machine is wonderful it looks really good, its black and silver, and is a pleasure to use. I wouldnt swap it for any other pc in the world. ... Read review
