...I've just recently bought this monitor for 100 pounds in Malaysia. It is really amazing and i'm all excited about it. It is compact and flat screen. Its slim design adds a sleek look to any computing system in any room. it has 6 buttons at the bottom of the screen, each for : internet, exit, adjusting the contrast, adjusting brightness, enter and power respectively. This makes it really convenient. It has an integrated power supply, so there are no bulky cables to deal with. The wiring is neat and not messy and troublesome like some monitors and it has a nice and unique stand. The screen is 15" and i personally feel that the price is reasonable. It has a TFT screen, which is supposedly more beneficial for the eyes. With a contrast ratio of 350:1 and a brightness of 250 cd/m2, it offers good picture quality, It is easy to use and comes... Advantages: Fast...on benchmarks, runs Quake 3 well......and nothing else
Disadvantages: Game performance, constant crashing, doesn't run .avi, .bnk, .smk and certain .mpg files, doesn't run with GeForce 2's with less than 256MB of system RAM, no DVDs work

...Just over 3 weeks ago, i bought an Advent 3501 from PC World. This PC has a 1GHz Athlon in it running at 1,034MHz, 128MB RAM, GeForce 2, m/b soundcard and a DVD drive. Problems problems problems. I knew something was amiss when on its first boot-up it locked up, after bizzarely detecting, then losing C drive. After re-starting it proceeded to crash during the WinMe registration process, and again while attempting to dial-up. After 243 crashes in 1 week, we took it back to PC World Stockport for them to look at it. The monkeys there messed around with another computer in full view of us and came out saying it was fine and that they could see no problem with it. Well, you can't when you don't even put the power lead in. After roasting them alive, i stormed in and demanded they look over it. It crashed 18 times in an hour and they DARED... Read review

Advantages: 17" Slim Bezel, Modern Looking, Fantastic Quality, No Dead Picxels
Disadvantages: are there any?

...The Samsun SyncMaster 171N is an amazing 17" Flatscreen TFT monitor. I have this black version and have done for the past two years. It has not ever let me down and is yet to have a coloured or dead pixel. Mine came with 3year Samsung warranty, which I believe they all do. Resolution: 1280x1024, Brightness: 250cd/m2, Contrast Ratio: 350:1, Inputs: Analogue, Viewing Angle: 140/120 degrees, Response Time: 0.25ms, Colours Supported:16.2m, Dimensions: 367x369x190, Weight: 5.1kg, With fantastic specifications and now cheap in price it really wouldn't be hard to choose this fantastic monitor. I have had many other monitors made by sony, phillips, LG, Ag Neovo and well....this is by far the best I have ever seen! Fantastic clarity and brightness with a good 25ms response time, it's good for watching fast moving images, DVDs, Games and so on... Read review
