Advantages: great design, vertical ports for regular items such as memory sticks, led display Disadvantages: maybe a bit expensive but comparrison but it is quality
I bought this hub as an impulse purchase but based my decision on:
(a) you can never have enough usb ports
(b) belkin are a respected manufacturer
(c) I liked the design
It cost me £12 when I bought it but I think that was the stores mistake as I have seen it advertised at between £19 and £24. Even at that price though this is a good piece of kit.
Bearing in mind you can get USB 2 hubs for about half the piece of this one made by companies you may have never heard of, the design and features on this device make it a very attractive and useful addition to your desktop.
It has seven USB ports; five on the back and two placed nattily and very usefully on the top. The top ones are what make this great in my view. They are ideal for things you want to plug in and take out on a regular and irregular basis. I use them for usb ...

Personal experiences using this hub
Although I haven't used any management features included with this 3com hub, I can speak as someone who ...
Advantages: Enough connectivity for a small office Disadvantages: Pricy
lights tell when the hub is in use and when data is being transferred. This is handy if you need to check that the port is active and sending/recieving data.
Pricing.
It retails at around £150 for one unit. Remember, you need to allow for your cabling costs (which can be quite high) and the prices of your network cards. This can be bought in bundles or pack of 10, 25 or 100 and it is much cheaper to buy them this way.
Overall.
A great hub but there are cheaper ones out there that do a similar job. ...
Product Information for "EZ Stack 10/100 Base - hub - 8 ports" »
Manufacturer's product description
SMC's EZ Stack 10/100 dual-speed stackable hubs are the ideal solution for Fast Ethernet integration and growth. And, these rack-mountable hubs are plug and play, so they're as easy to use as single-speed hubs. The 8- and 16-port Base Hubs can be used standalone or stacked with up to five Expansion Hubs to build a single logical hub that is scalable to 96 ports. Each 10BASE-T/100BASE-TX port can be connected to either an Ethernet or Fast Ethernet device. The port automatically senses the speed of the attached device, and segments traffic according to data rate. And, the base hubs contain an internal switch that supports communications between the 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps segments. For flexibility, one port on each model is switch-selectable; it can serve as a crossover or daisy-chain port to cascade to another device for further expansion of the 10 or 100 Mbps segments, or to support greater distances. And, the hubs feature a comprehensive array of status LEDs to display hub activity and port status.
