I'd booked a last minute flight to Miami and needed to get my travel insurance sorted out very quickly, so I thought, its going to be quicker and cheaper through the net. How wrong can you be? I picked an e company that I'd heard of and had seen adverts for and the price seemed reasonable - £82 for annual worldwide cover. I filled out the form on the Wednesday, got an autoresponse stating I would receive my documents in first class mail the following day, but they didn't arrive. I left it til the following day and they still hadn't arrived. I was due to leave on the Saturday morning so things were getting a bit frantic. I had to phone up the customer services number given on the site and the phone just rang and rang until someone eventually picked up. I managed to get my insurance wording sent to me via email before I travelled. Luckily I had no reason to claim - if I had there could have been trouble as I hadn't actually received the official document or the policy number. It took 6 further phonecalls on my return from holiday to eventually get exactly what I wanted sent to my house.
I found he service unacceptable. I hope if I do ever need to make a claim that the service will have improved.
My recommendation - go to the travel agent and get the documents given to u there and then!!
