Advantages: Fast, Friendly and Great Value Disadvantages: None I can Think Of!
www.etyres.co.uk A simple service that a stumbled upon when looking to buy new tyres for my motor.
As it usaully happens, following a recent trip to the garage I was informed that I had a slow puncture in one rear tyre and the other was 'Getting Close' (garage speak, for 'We will fleece you for a new tyre')
Not content with simply taking the garages offer to do it for me I decided to search the intenet for a cheaper ... ...sporty just 2 common tyres.
I searched Kwik-Fit, National Tyres, black Cicles to name just 3 all of which supplied quotes from £100 to £350! for similar makes and service.
Now im not a car buff and know very little about tyres, so was determined to go with a make that I had heard of.

Not content with simply taking the garages offer to do it for me I decided to search the intenet for a cheaper option. I was searching for two tyres, nothing special or sporty just 2 common tyres.
I searched Kwik-Fit, National Tyres, black Cicles to name just 3 all of which supplied quotes from £100 to £350! for similar makes and service.
Now im not a car buff and know very little about tyres, so was determined to go with a make that I had heard of.
I finally stumbled blindly, thanks to Google, accross Etyres.com. Etyres has a very organised very simple to use web page, which took very little reading and offered a 'No-Nonsense' service. Put simply-Choose the tyres and we will come to your address, next day and fit them, balance and suppy new caps-Brilliant I thought, all in one go and I dont even have to leave my house.
SELECTING TYRES: This process was made incredibally simple, There is a short, fill in the boxes, style form taking the widths and ratings of the tyres required (the long number on the tyres) and then press submit.
THE SELECTION: This page then appears giving all manner of tyres suitable for your vehicle, from 'Economy' no name tyres to very sporty, very expensive, racing tyres and everything inbetween. also included is a short descriptive of the tyre e.g. Good for rain/grip etc.
THE COSTING: Simple Simple Simple! Next to the tyre types is a cost and this is the ONLY cost. It is inclusive of Vat, Fitting and Balancing and there really are no extras, I mearly selected 2 tyres, middle of the range Firestone 192's and up popped the price, that is what I payed. (£73.80 If your interested) which was £25 cheaper than any other I had found.
ORDERING: Again, just a simple form confirming the tyres you want, card details and Fitting address. Address can be home or place of work or, I suppose, Anywhere. Also supplied are the details of the vehicle (so they can double check everything will fit) No charge is taken until after the fitting is complete.
WHEN DO YOU WANT THEM? On the order form is a section for , preffered date. I chose the next day. Also is 3 time of day options: 1. Available all day 09:00-18:00 2. Morning, before 13:00 3. Afternoon 13:00-18:00
I opted for the morning option the next day from placing the order on the web site.
THE FITTING: At 10:00am I recieved a phone call informing me that the fitting van had just left the centre and would be with me in 40 minutes. 40 minutes later the van appeared. Clean White and well kept with large print ETYRES.com on the side. 2 'fitters' jumped out and were very friendly and efficient (especially after a brew) and within 20 minutes 2 new tyres were fitted as requested the day before. A quick signiture and they were gone.
OVERALL: As you may be able to tell I am more than pleased, I got one over on the garage, saved money, saved time and effort and got exactly what I ordered, when I wanted it, a breath of fresh air in the problematic internet shopping world. I will definatley use ETYRES again in the future and would reccommend them to anyone requiring tyres at fantastic prices.
Advantages: Convenient service, excellent value, quick and efficient website Disadvantages: Not all tyres are available; battery service is poor
Rubber is quite important to us in our daily lives. For some, it's the little pink thing at the end of our pencils, used to rub out the mistakes we make on paper. For others, the use of rubber gloves is important - either medically or simply to prevent your fingers getting wrinkly when you do the washing up. My postman seems to like to use red rubber bands to keep all my bills neatly together, alphabetised by creditor, and because of his propensity ... ...to think that he and his missus enjoy wearing rubber gimp suits on a Saturday night.
The most prolific use of rubber, however, is that used in the manufacture of tyres. You know the sort of thing I mean: Lewis Hamilton famously forgot to change his rubber in China and ultimately Kimi Räikkönen is now the Formula One World Champion. Of course, there's a million miles between a Formula One racing tyre and the remoulds we used to stick on our cars ...

Advantages: Cheaper, no waiting around, no up-selling Disadvantages: No old, oil-stained magazines to read while waiting
I've just bought four new tyres for my wife's Micra and, rather than spend an hour in a cold and cheerless tyre centre waiting room, I found e-Tyres on the interweb. This is a service which comes to you and fits the rubber where it's convenient to you - at home or work or wherever.
I found the prices were competitive (and quoted all-in, with balancing, valves and fitting, rather than all those vital things being seen as "extras", which I like). ... ...brands to high performance, and one phone call sorted it all out - although you can book directly through the website, too.
I was sent a confirmation email, and the local e-Tyres franchise chap rang me to confirm a time to do the job.
The next day a big white van arrived on time, the bloke did the job in about 50 minutes, and then asked me to witness him using a hand torque-wrench on the wheel nuts, so not only are they on properly but there's ...

Advantages: They come to you [usually] Disadvantages: Not nationwide
etyres is a web-based company that supplies and fits car tyres [also vans, but not bikes] and car batteries.
On visiting the site, you can enter the size of tyre you need. For this, you have to have four pieces of information: width, profile, wheel size and speed rating. Fortunately, all of this information is on the side of the tyres you've already got on your car! They will look something like: 225/45 18 W.
On entering this information, you will ... ...their prices. The price shown includes VAT, fitting, balancing and valves, and delivery to your home or work. That is, they come to you, you don't need to go to them [though more of that later].
You complete the order and then are given an opportunity to book a fitting time, which can be as soon as the following day, or you can book further in advance. Full payment is made at the time of booking: as a security measure, you need to produce the credit/debit ...

Hi All
Let's face us we as British motorists get a pretty grim deal at the moment. In my view every penny I save when running my precious car is a very grateful penny saved. So how surprised have I been lately to find a tyre company who not only thinks of its customers first but also rewards them. "Whats the catch" I hear you all shout out. Well as yet I haven't discovered one.
The Product.
So what is this wonderful service? It's not new and it's ... ...The company I refer to is Etyres an online home or work tyre replacement service. It actually does what it say's on the tin but in this case it dose it extremely well, the web site is both simple and informative. With in seconds after entering your tyre size and details you are taken to a list of every tyre available from the cheapest remould to the most expensive sports tyre. There are filters that can be applied, though the easiest view is to filter ...

...that back at the office'. E tyres apologised and said it would be there first thing in the morning. I chased at lunch and they turned up in the afternoon. Spoke to E tyres who said they would reimburse the premium i paid for same day fitting, I Have since requested corrected invoices three times, still no sign so far. My own fault really, you do get what you pay for in this world. Lesson learnt pay a little extra and get a local reliable firm to ...
Advantages: All stated in review Disadvantages: All stated in review
I got my car last October to learn in and to drive once I had passed my test. I love it! I paid around £1,600 the 1.3 Encore, and, considering age, it drives superbly. Ford keep all old parts in stock, parts are also widely available on eBay and other websites. I fitted speakers in mine, and i found it so easy to find components that fit and go perfectly with the car.
Upsides:
Parts widely available.
Ford service is outstanding.
Hugely reliable.
All parts common sizes e.g. tyres.
Downsides:
Not as 'nippy' as newer cars.
Interior lacks in luxury.
If you are looking for a good first car or a cheap runabout, this car would never go amiss. I love the car; it is so cheap and brilliant value in comparison to other modern small cars available. ...
too small for the front disc brakes. However, the price - OUCH! Fitted etc. a new Bridgestone Potenza set me back £166 for one tyre. I am not looking forward to having to replace the lot! I read an online review from a Type R owner who ragged it so much that he needed a new set of rubber after 7000 miles! I have the pleasure and fortune of driving to work every day over the mountain section of the Isle of Man TT course, whis is probably the next best thing to a track day, but any tendency I have towards impersonations of Jenson Button is generally stopped immediately by the thought of a £650 tyre bill!
One last point on the tyres. When it is really wet (i.e. puddles everywhere), I have twice had a very strange experience, the last one only this morning. There is a thumping noise lasting a few seconds which comes from the corners ...
levels of compounds to suit both the car and driver though the compound details are not normally required for an every day car.
The size and rating of a tyre can be seen on the wall of the tyre and will look like 195/60 R15.
The 195 part of the tyre is the amount of tread that is in contact with the road. The 60 part is the depth from the tread to the rim of the wheel. The R15 part is the size rim the tyre will fit to. 88H is the load and speed rating of the tyre, the 88 is the weight factor that the car can take and the H is the speed the tyre can handle. E4 means the tyre has been tested and passed by the European Regulatory Authorities.
In my opinion I have found the Avon ZV3 to perform well in both the wet and dry, having me surprised at the amount of grip they have to offer, and I have been known to have a heavy right foot ...
