'Ear This Wax Lyrical!
Review of Otex Ear Drops by neenn

Advantages: Goes some way to relieving excess ear wax. Lats a long time
Disadvantages: Difficult to count the drops. Not a miracle cure for lots of excess ear wax.

■■■ Price and Availability ■■■ My GP advised me to buy these ear drops and given that a prescription is currently £6.85, she suggested that I buy it over the counter at the cheaper price of £4.79 at Boots. The ear drops can be found in most chemists and supermarkets with a pharmacy: Superdrug Lloyds Pharmacy Morrisons Asda Tesco ■■■ Packaging ■■■ This comes in a cylindrical ...
...'bumph' at the side of it. (Hopefully the photo will demonstrate this more clearly). Inside the box is a small, 8ml little tube. The tube has a sealed cap that is easily 'broken' by twisting the screw top cap, a good idea as it shows that the product has not been used or tampered with. Once the cap is taken off there is a small transparent, cone-like applicator. The shape and transparency of the applicator has advantages: ~ the transparency of ... Read review

Review of Earex Ear Drops by sarah9529

Advantages: I didnt find any at all
Disadvantages: Earache, dizzyness

Earex has to be the worst thing i have ever used in my life! I have had a ringing in my ear for so long that i dont remember what it feels like to hear properly and my mum bought some Earex. .. Anyway i used it and within an hour i was in bed as the ringing in my ear got 10 times worse and i was experiencing dizziness also a little pain in my right ear now and again. It is a horrible rememdy for earwax and i wouldnt advise anyone to use it. My ...
...hours since i put it in my ear, i still feel a little unsteady but thats slowly fading. Hopefully it will be gone tommorow. It says your supposed to use it twice a day for 4 days. I used it once and never mind 4 days, i will never touch that stuff again. I definatly cannot say 1 positive thing about this product and i wish i never used it . Take my advice, please DO NOT use it, you would be better off going to the doctors and getting your ears ... Read review

Colief enzyme drops
Review of Colief Infant Drops by jaynego

Advantages: relieves colic from lactose intolerance
Disadvantages: price

We found this a god-send but only when using 1 drop per feed. We used 4 drops per feed initially (as instructed on bottle) and although she was much better she still had spasmodic griping and was sometimes difficult to feed, along with loose explosive poos. We went down to 1 drop per feed after speaking to the GP and it was great. No more explosions, a settled tummy and the most gorgeous happy baby you could ask for. She is now 7 months and off it ...
...of a hassle but we eventually just expressed a few mls each feed into a spoon and added the drop to that. I don't think you need to add it to as much as they say on the website. I also used the SMA lactose free formula initially when she started weaning but she is now on normal sma in the day and breastfed in the evening. Hope this helps. ... Read review

Colief Drops versus SMA LF
Review of Colief Infant Drops by jjjjjp

Advantages: Anything is worth a try when you have an unhappy baby
Disadvantages: Its expensive and SMA Lactose Free is a much better approach (imo)

...SMA LF (lactose free) or colief drops. We tried the SMA LF for a week and saw an improvement in her feeding after a couple of days and the runny poos stopped too, but she still did the uncontrollable crying in the evenings. We thought that if she was lactose intolerant that the new milk would stop all the crying so we then went to SMA Gold with the colief drops. Well the effect was instant and not good! With the drops she started to scream again ...
...recommend that if you suspect that your baby is lactose intolerant (i.e. crying with each feed, runny poos, lots of wind, failing to gain good weight) that you speak to your health visitor about SMA LF first. Plus it is a lot easier than using the colief drops. ... Read review

Otex - AVOID at all costs
Review of Otex Ear Drops by seaspray

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Everything

...left ear, so I purchased Otex to try and sort it out. The first time I put the Otex in, there was considerable fizzing within my ear canal. I saw that the instruction manual said this was normal, so didn't worry. It actually felt kind of good to think that the Otex was working away at the wax. After day 1, my ear actually felt WORSE than before I put the drops in. However, once again, I read that this can be expected. Therefore, I continued with ...
...I should mention that the Otex made me feel dizzy and dramatically reduced my hearing capabilities. On day 4, I woke up with considerable pain in my left ear. After seeing my doctor, I had been diagnosed with an EAR CANAL INFECTION. He told me that he was 95% sure it had been caused by the Otex. Basically, your ear wax is there for a reason. It protects the delicate inner ear lining from infection. The dark, moist conditions of the ear canal make ... Read review
