Early learning centre first train set

James was bought his first train set for his first birthday and it has become a constant toy ever since we opened the box!

The bright yellow track took some figuring out hoe to fit it together, but in the end I managed! It is a large figure of eight track which comes in 11 pieces and measures about 3 feet in length and 1 foot in width, so a good area of space is need if you are to leave it set up all the time.

The train set comes with one engine and two carriages, constructed in bright red plastic and a cartoony driver and passenger to fit in the engine and carriages. The 2 AA batteries are housed underneath the engine, and are safely stored, requiring a screwdriver to remove the cover. The engine and carriages are extremely robust and have suffered just about all the abuse a 2 year old can throw at it with no damage at all.

The links on the carriages and the engine are a little fiddly for small fingers and James struggled a little when he first got it, but after a short time he was very able to couple the carriages up together. There are no fiddly switches to move to set the train in motion, all you have to do, is seat the driver (supplied) in his engine and away he goes. The switch is contained in the engine itself and the pressure from the driver, or anything that will sit in the seat is enough to set the train
in motion, pennies work well too.

The train makes a delightful ‘chuffing’; and ‘whoo whoo’ noise that is the best way I can describe it! as it trundles around the track. As the track is so wide, a vast majority of cars will fit on the it too, this provides endless enjoyment as the train ‘chases’ the cars around the track, but beware if you have cats, they will chase the train, despite the noise it makes! This is a great toy for either boy or girl, the age range on the train set is 2-4 years. I am sure this train set will last much longer than that and provide much pleasure. Having said how great this train set is, on word of warning!

Don’t put this train in your child’s bedroom! The worst sound in the world is ‘whooo whooo’ at 3am!!
