Parents everywhere listen up. NO BATTERIES NEEDED, NO ANNOYING TUNES and NO FLASHING LIGHTS!! ha haa haaa. If you don't have children you will not have a clue what I mean. For those who do, read on with glee.

What a simple idea. Take 100 bits of wood, shape them into cylinders, cubes and other geometric type shapes, paint them and sell them. Oh how I wish I had thought of that. Never mind. If you have a little one with a building / destroying habit, then these are for you.

so what are they for?
As you can probably imagine these bricks are the simplest form of construction toy a child can get. The bricks are designed to promote cognitive thinking in a child. Cognitive thinking being spacial awareness ,real world shapes, size, volume and problem solving.

Unlike Lego, Knex or other branded construction toys, they don't have the ability to connect to each other. This does limit the construction possibilities. Towers, bridges and walls with towers and bridges on them......but.....introduce a toy car or ball into the equation and BAM! My son the rally driver / stunt man / ten pin bowler is in his element.

They can be used on their own, but a child's imagination and creativity can come up with a million more possibilities for these bricks than any Educational Learning expert could think of. We, that is me and my Little Darling have had hours of fun lying on the floor making towers and ramming them with cars. Driving radio controlled mini racers into walls of them. Making towers using all 100 bits and I suggest yo do too.

the boring bits...
I have had an assurance from a rather vacant looking assistant at ELC that they do normally come with instructions. (What for?) The paints used are not lead based and are non toxic.

The suggested age group is 12-36 months, but BE CAREFUL because they can fit into a child's mouth. Another warning that may or may not have been on my "Invisible" instructions, is that they are flippin sore if you stand on them.

They are fairly sturdy, however i have noticed that some are bashed a bit, but as yet (5months since purchase) none of the paint has come off.

HOW MUCH!
Normally £10 for some gloss painted bits of wood. Or £5 if you haggle over a damaged box with no instructions like I did. (still can't think what was on the instructions, and I wouldn't have asked for them if she hadn't mentioned they were missing!)

And finally, you could always sand some off cuts of wood down yourself, then paint them, or shop around at the supermarkets for their "own brand" alternatives.
