So many baby products contain volatile mineral oils... biochemists have proved that essential oils rubbed on the skin can be detected in exhaled breath minutes later, so any products used on a baby's delicate skin you might as well consider to be directly fed to them!
Therefore I'd much rather use an environmentally-sensitive product based on vegetable ingredients, which are fully listed. It also smells great, and doesn't aggravate her eczema.
Only drawbacks are that it is more expensive than many brands, and harder to get hold of. I would happily get larger quantities if available, for both these reasons
Advantages: Simply packaged, smells lovely, hypoallergenic, not tested on animals. Disadvantages: Not tear free and is difficult to get hold of.
This soap from the Earth Friendly Baby range smells really, really nice. It doesn't work up a massive ammount of lather, but used on a sponge it is sufficient. It is very gentle on sensitive skin, BUT be warned it is not a tear free formula so watch the eyes! It is made from all natural ingredients, is hypoallergenic and not tested on animals. It , as is the rest of the range tricky to track down. It is most widely available on the net, check out ...

Advantages: Smells gorgeous, clean and fresh, all natural, not teasted on animals. Disadvantages: Not tear free and is difficult to get hold of.
This is the only product I have found that does not irritate my son's sensitive skin. I have tried many products, all of them supposedly for sensitive skin and all of them left him itchy and rashy. This product is simply, but attractively packaged, really hypoallergenic, all natural ingrediants and is not tested on animals. It can be difficult to find, Tescos was the only shop in my area to have it and they haven't had any in for 3 weeks. I have ...

Advantages: Smells gorgeous, totally natural ingredients, no chemical formulation Disadvantages: A bit pricey and can be hard to get hold of
...things like bodywash. That's why Earth Friendly baby products are so lovely- they are 100% pure and natural, no harsh foaming ingredients and with very gentle essential oil based formulations. The body wash is suitable for even very young babies and is an almost transparent gold colour - foams up really easily and abundantly filling the air with the delicate scent of chamomile. The soap is scented with natural lavender oil and is also gloriously ...

Advantages: Excellent for babies & children with eczema as this product does not contain Sodium Laurel Sulphate unlike most other bathing products on the market Disadvantages: Is isn't in the supermarket - but easy enough to buy on the internet
This is the best product I have found for my children that is free of Sodium Laurel Sulphate. Most other products which advertise as suitable for sensitive skin still contain SLS which is a harsh chemical foaming agent. You do not need a lot of foam to be clean! It is also suitable for washing hair - so easy to do in the bath. I have not found it difficult to purchase online. I get mine from www.ababy.co.uk who only charge £2.95 for delivery. You ... ...I do consider the product to be value for money as it is so superior to anything else and you only need to use a small amount in the bath so it lasts for ages. I wouldn't consider using anything else on my children now. I even took some to hospital when I had my last baby as I didn't want them to use the traditional baby bath on my precious son's skin. ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Earth Friendly"
I went to a baby massage class and the oils that they recommended and use are just plain simple sunflower oils. Fair enough it means that there's nothing artificial involved and it's easy to get hold of but I just felt a bit odd rubbing the same oil onto my baby's skin as I would put in the pan to fry up some potatoes!
I decided that I would buy myself and my baby some other oils to use and decided it would be best to stick to something very plain.
I didn't want anything that was scented as I wanted the whole massage experience to be a bonding time so wanted natural smells to come through not something that would overpower the time together. Even the basic Johnson's oils were slightly scented and so I chose EarthFriendly Baby Massage oil. This is completely scent free and contains Shea Oil so it gives it a lovely milky texture. So ...
Advantages: Moisturising, Ethical, Promotes Bonding Disadvantages: Scent may take getting used to, Bottle shaped impractically
I received a bottle of this massage oil to test and and would highly recommend to other parents looking for a baby (or even a relaxing adult) massage oil. Although EarthFriendly Baby suggest using their unscented oil for babies under three months I received the scented version and my little boy, at five weeks old, really seemed to enjoy it (and I know I did!). The oil contains roman chamomile, calendula, kukui and rose essential oils in addition to sunflower oil and vitamins A and E making it nice and moisturising. The oil smells very unusual - I found that the rose oil was the dominant scent with a hint of chamomile - but it grew on me very quickly. As a migraine sufferer I have previously used rose oil to help with the headaches and it has lovely relaxing properties which I'm sure added to the pleasure of the massage for both of us ...
Advantages: Thin, add extra absorbency where and when you need it Disadvantages: Slow to dry (but that's because they are so absorbent)
As the drawbacks to disposable nappies become clear, many are turning to cloth again. One of the drawbacks to using cloth nappies can be the "Does my bum look big in this?" effect. That Tellytubby shape looks cute, but it can make it awkward to find clothes that fit! Yet without all those layers, how is an earth-friendly nappy to be absorbent enough to cope with everything your baby throws at it?
One answer is to think about the kind of material you use for the layers. Cotton is good at absorbing quickly, but it is relatively bulky and there are various issues around cotton production and its effect on the environment, given that it needs lots of water and is vulnerable to pests. Hemp, on the other hand, grows in most conditions without pesticides or fertiliser. In fact, it inhibits weed growth, enriches the soil and needs little ...
