For the new PSP title, Shiny has decided to take EarthwormJim back to his roots. The new title marks a return to the side-scrolling adventures that made the franchise such a success. This game was released back in 91 and was a sequel to the highly rated Golden Axe. Having not played the previous version i was bought this version as a youngster and for a while was probably my favourite game on the megadrive. The story is very basic, you are tasked with retaining the golden axe from the dark guld, who you will meet at the end of the game.
The game is quite a simple side scrolling hack em up beat em up set in fantasy medieval times where at the end of each level you met an end boss and battled til the death. Simple but effective!

As in street fighter, the aim of this game was to choose a fighter, defeat all comers in a tournament and then go on to fight the end boss, like SF each character had their own distinctive look, style of fighting, levels of damage, reach and special moves. Each one also had their own fatality which was a new edition to fighting games whereby after the beating of an opponent, the player had a few extra seconds while unconcious to inflict a disturbing finishing move which varied from ripping someones head off to electrifying them to death.
