I’m looking for car insurance quotes at the moment, not because mine is due, but because I’m looking at maybe changing my car, I obviously want a good quote before I ago ahead. Easier said than done!!

...over (not impressed!) but I began again, and all went well. Until, that is I tried to say about the car. When purchased? Well, I haven’t yet. Registration number? Don’t know do I? Very frustrating.

I gave today’s date as the purchase date and made up a registration number, as that was the only way it would accept my details. It also asked for quote by current insurer but I was able to leave this blank if I wished ... more

Anyway, you get to the end and you can get 3 ‘instant quotes’…allegedly.

It sent me to ‘Quoteline.com’ where I got an instant quote after inputting a few more details. It then sent me to ‘Its4you.com’ who said they could not quote without a valid registration number, could I ring them. Then the third choice was Norwich Union, who also said “Not enough detail, please call us”

If I had wanted to use the phone I would have!

So, now you sit back and await your other quotes to be emailed and posted, as they send your details to various companies for you.

Budget Insurance was the first to send an email with a quote that wasn’t really that good. They then proceeded to resend this quote 9 times!!!! A few the first evening when I logged in at home, then the next night a couple more! And so it went on. It was ridiculous, they were all exactly the same and they wouldn’t stop!!

The only way it stopped was…I found the email of the chairman, wrote to him about it, then sent him all 9 emails. It stopped then!

I haven’t received emails from any other company and it has been about a week.

I received one quote by post – guess what? Yes it was Budget Insurance – with the same blasted quote!!

So in summary, easy to use web site if you already have the car and are re-insuring. Unsure of how many companies they do go to on your behalf, so your best bet is to ring around yourself – the old fashioned way!!

Update - 20.04.01 - recieved two more Budget Insurance quotes through the post, nothing from ANY other company!!!!
