I bought 2 Seagate 3TB hard drives from Ebuyer but they didn't mount in my LaCie Raid system. LaCie support told me that the firmware of those HD purchased through Ebuyer is very old and so out of... more

WHAT THEY DO Ebuyer is an online distributor of computer equipment and components. This becomes obvious as soon as you have loaded the home page, as you are greeted with images of some of the products they stock. Ebuyer have a US and a UK website. The UK office is in Sheffield. WHY I CHOSE THEM I wanted to upgrade my computer so I needed faster parts for it, and I wanted them CHEAP(!) so that's where Ebuyer came in. I think I first found out about the site on a product comparison site like Kelkoo, when I was searching for computer bits through Google, but I also came across some reviews of ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, easy to use site, lots of information

Disadvantages Disadvantages Postage prices, some people have had trouble with eBuyer

Like any hobby, being a nerd can be an expensive business. All those lovely gadgets and computer components don't come cheap and having an all singing, all dancing computer does make my wallet wince. Hurrah for eBuyer.com then where I can buy PC stuff at wallet friendly prices. While eBuyer will work in Opera, Netscape and evil Internet Explorer, it's only in the latter two that you will encounter the "expanding menus" type navigation. In Opera, rather than the expanding menus, you will surf to a new page to get the same options. While this isn't a huge negative aspect of the site, it does ... more

    Advantages Advantages Cheap, convenient, simple

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Returns are problematic

When I first heard about eBuyer.com, I thought the friend who was telling me about it was saying eBay, so I got quite confused about it, but he quickly corrected me and introduced me to this neatly functional little site which is all about buying computer goodies of all kinds, hardware, software, peripherals and the like. The website's chief attraction is its very reasonable prices, although I have to say that I do remain a little to be convinced on these grounds, as when I checked out some products it wasn't absolutely clear to me where the better deal was on offer. However, some of the ... more

Advantages Advantages cheap goods, easy to use website

Disadvantages Disadvantages delivery totally messed up, customer service non-existent

When you access the ebuyer.com website the banner across the top of the screen reads "the UKs largest independent online retailer of computers, components, electronics". I can't comment on how true or not that statement is but I can comment on my experience with them recently. THE LAYOUT OF THE SITE As a site that sells IT related items the site itself is very basic. It's not what one would call a professional looking or flashy site - but it serves its purpose well enough. "Pile 'em high and sell 'em cheap" I think is the expression that springs to mind… The home page (current as at January ... more

Advantages Advantages Unbeatable Value, Great Website

Disadvantages Disadvantages Price of Delivery, Customer Support

PS. I had this opinion removed recently, as it was not upto scratch (an early op of mine, hopefully it is better now, sorry to those of you that have already rated it and are back wondering what's going on). Thank you. I first signed up on the Ebuyer.com website and placed my first order back in February 2001. Since then I have placed 18 orders and spent a scary total of just over £6,000 with the company. My reason for spending this amount is because I make customised computers for people as a sideline / hobby. And over those 18 orders I have placed, I am well accustomed to the Ebuyer customer ... more
