MeyerHachette DigitalMay 3, 2013Bella? Edwards soft voice came from behind me. I turned to see him spring lightly up the porch steps, his hair windblown from running. He pulled me into his arms at once, and kissed me again. His kiss frightened me. There was too much tension, too strong an edge to the way his lips crushed mine - like he was afraid we had only so much time left to us. As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob - knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which? Following the international bestsellers Twilight and New Moon, Eclipse is the much-anticipated third book in Stephenie Meyers captivating saga of vampire romance.About the AuthorStephenie Meyer graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English Literature and lives with her husband and three young sons in Arizona. Advantages: Just as entertaining as the other books, more action in this one! Disadvantages: Bella is REALLY irritating - is she really only 18?!

Eclipse picks up where New Moon left off; Bella has had to cool off her friendship with Jacob on Jacobs request - the relationship between Jacob and Edward is strained so the opening section of Eclipse is Jacobs attempt to tell Bella to stay away.
However. There are big threats for the luckless Bella around the corner which will require the joint strengths of both Edwards Vampire family and Jacobs friends (we shall leave it there in case I accidentally reveal plot spoilers for anyone who hasn't yet read New Moon and intends to!). A killing spree is spreading across Seattle and with no clues, fingerprints and a rapid and frenzied rate of attack; the Cullen's already fear that a new vampire clan is attacking. Add to that, an old enemy, Victoria, is still on the hunt not to mention the Vulturi are still after Bella, she and the rest of her ill-fated friends are in for a rough ride....
My Thoughts
Having just reminded myself of my review on the last book, New Moon, I'm surprised I even picked up the third, Bella irritated me so much. She was such a martyr; far too old for her years (although this is played on in the books, her mother often refers to her as old before her time) her language, actions and thoughts are far beyond those of the average 18-year-old girl so its unsurprising that I sometimes find her character false, she just doesn't seem to be based in reality half the time!
Bella is just as irritating in Eclipse as she has been in previous books - constantly wanting to sacrifice herself to save the people she loves because she has heard a story about a human woman who did just this to save the people she loved, wanting to waste her life to become a vampire and spend eternity with Edward might sound like she is a wonderful human being but its all a little odd at times and I really wanted to give her a cold hard slap across the face and tell her to wake up!
Added to this, this story develops the peculiar love triangle between her, Edward and Jacob. She is constantly agonising over her two relationships and seems at some points to string both of them along and have a bizarre intimate relationship with both although she still tries to tell Jacob that they are just friends. When he reminds her again of his feelings for her, there seems to be this never-ending agonising section about how she feels she treated him badly and strung him along (yes) but she wants to be with them both in different ways! It is all rather frustrating. My 13 year old cousin would disagree with me, but the character of Jacob is so loveable, I'm not sure how any sane person would choose Edward over Jacob - but I guess that's the point, Bella is not sane at all! Although I'm also not a teenage girl, which I think might explain it!
However, these books just have something so compelling about them. Despite my annoyance at Bella (and Edward - this vampire is a saint!) the book is nicely divided up between Bella's inner turmoil as well as plenty of action. In previous books, the reader hasn't really been treated to the fights that go on between vampires and their enemies, and this book opens our eyes (as well as Bella's) to show what really happens when Vampires get angry! The fight sections were both tense and enthralling and definitely made a refreshing change from all the mushy Bella and Edward talk.
Of course, I'll be reading the last in the series; I can't get this far and not. I'm torn between feeling pleased that so far, Bella has not seen the error of her ways and run off with her best friend, because quite frankly Jacob is far too good for her, and wanting her to wake up and smell the coffee and have a happily HUMAN ever after. I'll have to wait and see what happens in that respect, but it doesn't mean I'll stop skipping her annoyingly self indulgent rants about how she is a bad human being - they are just getting a bit too dull now! The books overall keep me thoroughly entertained and its by no means a hardship picking these books up after a break - I end up straight in the middle of the story again and not wanting to put it down. Annoyingly addictive stuff indeed!
Advantages: Amazing plot, characters, writing...and you'll fall in love with Edward Cullen! Disadvantages: Nothing.
Eclipse is the third novel in a four book series by Stephenie Meyer. I've written reviews for the first two books, 'Twilight' and 'New Moon' - so if you want to find out about those books, check them first.

**Book Cover**
The cover for Eclipse is, like the others in this series, very pretty to look at. It depicts a red ribbon torn in two on a black background: simple yet effective. Stephenie Meyer herself explained the cover…the ribbon on the front of Eclipse is being unsuccessfully torn, with strands still holding ...

Advantages: Great Story, Great Characters and Good Action Disadvantages: None for Me
Eclipse is the 3rd book in the currently 4 book twilight series by Stephenie Meyer (I'm still holding on to a tiny hope she will finish the 5th book Midnight Sun) At over 360 pages this instalment of the series is a nice big chunk of story. Without giving too much away, the story so far up to this point is of human 17 year old Bella Swan and her vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen. The 2 are trying to make their far from average relationship work, but ... ...You can pick up Eclipse along with the previous books in the series for £5 most places now and they are certainly worth it. They are gripping and extremely hard to put down due to the strong character connection that Stephenie Meyer has managed to portray through her writing. Thanks for Reading :) ...

Advantages: very readable, very well developed characters Disadvantages: predictable at times
Eclipse is the third book in Stephanie Meyers' Twilight saga. The saga began with Twilight, and carried on in New Moon, Eclipse comes next and finally there is Breaking Dawn (at the time of writing, this is only available in hardback). The saga features the teenage Bella Swan and her boyfriend Edward, as well as Jacob who is Bella's best friend but wants to be much more. Twilight is about Bella and Edward getting together, she knows he is different, ... ...a 'difference' of his own. Eclipse carries the story on. I will give spoilers from the first two books in this review, I'll try to keep them to a minimum but cannot promise. Eclipse is the longest of the saga so far, but not by much. I thoroughly enjoyed it, although I still feel that Twilight is the best that I have read to date; Twilight is the most compelling and I liked the way that the character development was dealt with; in New Moon and Eclipse ...

...the reader. I think that Eclipse is the most important book to the series, in terms of how it contributes to the story as a whole. If there were some major plot development in New Moon, Eclipse takes these developments a step further. I would say that this is the book that really sets the tone and prepares the reader for the grand finale that will occur in Breaking Dawn (the last book). In addition, I think that it even stands as a good novel on ... ...the supernatural, However, I enjoyed Eclipse a lot more than New Moon because in most cases, the development were purely humane- hence allowing the readers to relate to a lot of the sentiments displayed within the pages. I also liked the flow of the book, it was slow enough for the readers to comprehend certain more complicated aspects of the plot, yet fast and somewhat energetic at times in order to grasp attention till the end. There certainly ...

Advantages: Packed with lots of action and romance Disadvantages: The various events going on at the same time may spin your head
Well, if you think the first and second book in the series are good, then this third volume to the saga will be fantastic for you. There are loads going on in the book which makes it such a good read. Time is getting closer to her graduation, and the time for her being turned into an immortal creature(whether she chooses the Carlisle option -change after graduation or the Edward option-change after they get married) , Bella must decide which route ... ...she has to make. On the other hand, mysterious killings starts to occur in Seattle which draws the attention of the Cullens. And guess who's behind this? Well you do not need to know rocket science to be able to answer this question if you have paid attention when reading New Moon. Off course it's Victoria. She makes a group of newborn army to help her to revenge the Cullens for killing her partner James. And hence the Cullens turn to Jasper, the ...

Advantages: Fantastic storytelling and characterisation Disadvantages: Long passages that I felt like skimming through at times
Eclipse is the third ina series of books written by StephenieMeyer, aimed primarily at teenage girls, but enjoyable by anyone, really. At this point, I'd like to point out that, in order to properly review Eclipse, it is important to touch on events that have happened in the previous two books, Twilight and New Moon. As such, this review may reveal things about these two books that could spoil them if you have not previously read them. However, I will not be spoiling Eclipse for you.
It is told in the narrative format by Bella Swan, who arrives in the sleepy and dreary town of Forks, Washington, at the age of 16. Each of the books takes an academic school year, much like the Harry Potter series, and describes the events that happen. So far in the series, we have seen the emergence of vampires and werewolves as main parts of the story ...
Advantages: engrossing and just as magic as the first two books Disadvantages: very lengthy
Stepheniemeyer's third book Eclipse, is based on three main characters, Bella swan a girl who is in love with a vampire called Edward, and her best friend who is a werewolf called Jacob. This book focuses on her relationship with these two enemies.
She has to choose which one is more important to her, her relationship with Edward or her friendship with Jacob..
For anyone who has read the first two installments you should know this is just as gripping, and exciting as the first two books. Although (for me) it did get really frustrating at times trying to find out who she would end up with! so i would definitely recommend reading it more than once!! if you get impatient and skip alot of the book in your first reading!
This book is far more in detail than the first two, so the lengthy paragraphs might annoy those who want to read quick ...
