- The Author -
Stephenie Meyer was born on the 24th of December, 1973. She is an american author who writes for both adults and teenagers. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, after graduating from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, Stephenie Meyer now lives with her husband who she met whilst growing up with her three sons.

- About -
Eclipse is the sequel to New Moon, part of a four part series although there is a fifth book not yet released which is Twilight written in another characters perspective) written by an american international bestseller. First published hardcover in August 2007, it is a young adult book, both a romance book and an adventure book. It continues the story of 17/18 year old Bella (Isabella) Swan who has moved to Forks, Washington, and has fallen in love with vampire, Edward Cullen. In Eclipse, there have been many mysterious murders. It is 629 pages long in the hardcover version.

- Storyline -
In Seattle, there have been many mysterious unsolved murders. The bodies are nowhere to be found and Edward concludes that there is a newborn vampire on the loose, killing as it can't control it's hunger for blood. Bella wants to see Jacob and explains to Edward. Edward isn't very happy, as Jacob is a werewolf and dosen't really want Bella and Jacob to be friends, though he can't stop them. Bella tries to convince him that Jacob of any of the pack would try to hurt her, but Edward still fears for Bellas safety. After a while, Edward let's go and lets Bella visit Jacob, but only if she has her phone on her.

Alice sees Victoria, a vampire that is hunting Bella, is back in town. The Cullens wonder whether Victoria has anything to do with all the murders in Seattle.Things start to get suspicious when Bella goes home to find her pillow and some of her clothes missing.

Bella pushes things with Edward wanting to go further but Edward refuses, saying that he might hurt her. He tells her that it's marriage first, and proposes. Dissapointed, Bella agrees as she realises it is more important to be with Edward forever. Bella is also trying to convince Edward to turn her into a vampire but he still refuses.

The Seattle murders get worse and things get more and more suspicious. The Cullens are soon sure that Victoria is behind but that there is more than one newborn on the loose. And it's Bella who she's planning to kill.

- Price -
Eclipse hardcover is RRP £12.99. It's mostly priced around £8.00 in shops though you could probably get a good deal online with the prequel New Moon, or sequel Breaking Dawn.

- Verdict -
Like New Moon, Eclipse recieved mixed reviews.

I did enjoy the love triangle storyline, the dynamics between Bella, Edward and Jacob were great. Bella loves both Edward and Jacob, and Jacob and Edward both love Bella. In this book, Jacob realises that if he needs to get Bella's love, he needs it know. Otherwise Bella will be turned into a vampire, and there will be no going back. I really liked the way Stephenie Meyer makes subtle hints about it at the beginning, instead of making it completely clear.

In Eclipse, you find out the secrets of Rosalie's and Jasper's transformations into vampires.

Eclipse definetely had a better storyline that New Moon. The storyline in New Moon had loose ends, but at the same time, it was excellently written. But although the storyline was better in eclipse, the actual writing wasn't. It failed to keep me as hooked as Twilight and New Moon did, and I wasn't that bothered about it.

Despite the negative critisism I've made, I do still believe that Eclipse is a wonderful book. There is a lot more action than there was in New Moon. And although I admit that it was my least favourite book from the Twilight series, it was still entertaining and a good read with a lot attention to detail and careful styling.
