Eclipse: Stephenie Meyer

Introduction

I started reading the Twilight Series a couple of months ago, and fell in love with the books, as well as the films. So when I got the final two books for Christmas off my husband I was made up! Eclipse is the 3rd of 4 books in the series, and is just as amazing as the other books.

The other 3 books in the saga are:
Twilight
New Moon
And Breaking Dawn

This book is definitely on par with Twilight, and much better than New Moon, which personally I found a little lacking in story as far as the Vampires went, as the story was much more about Jacob Black and the werewolves.

If you haven’t read the other books in the saga, you won’t understand much about any of what I have just said, so here is a quick overview of the books which have gone before this one…if you are yet to read the first two books and don’t want to know what happens then I suggest you skip over the next paragraph! I will try not to give the story away though!

Isabella (Bella) Swan lives with her father Charlie in a small town called Forks in Washington, when she moved there 2 years ago, she was a loner, used to the sun of Phoenix with her mother who has remarried and moved to Florida, she was miserable…that was until she met the Cullens, and Edward in particular. Edward and the Cullens are Vampires. Nobody in Forks knows, and they live as “vegetarians” only hunting wild animals and not humans, unlike the rest of their kind around the world. Bella and Edward quickly fall in love and become an item, but with it, comes lots of trouble for her. With Victoria another non-vegetarian vampire hunting her and wanting her dead, Bella is in more trouble than she can ever imagine. With her best friend Jacob Black, becoming a Vampire hating werewolf, her trouble is only just beginning.

The story continues…

In Eclipse, Bella and Edward are finally back together and ready for Graduation, with Bella ready for Edward to “change” her after Graduation, and college acceptances coming through daily, Bella is increasingly excited, yet afraid, of the impending year.

Jacob Black is still not speaking to her after he found out she was taking Edward back after everything he did last year. But when a vampire enters Bella’s house, and takes her clothes away, the Cullens and the Werewolves are worried for her safety, none of them recognise the scent, and all they can think is Victoria has sent someone to kill Bella.

With a string of mysterious murders in Seattle, the Cullen’s put two and two together, there is a band of baby vampires on the loose, new vampires who are out of control and killing anything in sight.

The Werewolves and Vampires put the past behind them for the time being and work together to sort the problem, setting a trap to catch the baby vampires, and hoping they are right! With Bella’s life in jeopardy, everyone just hopes they can stop the vampires before it’s too late.

Opinion

I loved this book, even though it took me quite a while to finish it what with Christmas and everything, I absolutely loved it. The story was much stronger than in New Moon, which I felt was more of a “filler” book in the series and didn’t really have much substance to it, this book had a great story which kept you guessing all the way through, right from a couple of chapters in the story had you hooked, and the book really makes you want to keep on reading through the series, and there is no way you could put this book down after finishing it and not want to go out and buy Breaking Dawn (the final book in the series)!

The story is on par with the first book in the series, Twilight which begins the story.

This is definitely a book which I could read again and again!

There isn’t really much I can say which won’t give away the story too much, and as the “story” doesn’t end here, but in the next book, there’s nothing I can say about that either!

If you have enjoyed the other two Twilight books, you will adore this one, it is much better than New Moon, and makes great bedtime reading, if a little scary in places!

10 out of 10!
