Ok, so I NEVER tan. I never have done. I can sit out in the sun for hours, get slightly pink...then back to white again. The 'white' look is rarely attractive though, so I've used self tans for years - a god send!
However, despite being a bit of a self-tan-aholic, I'm not a fan of the 'orange' look, so when I find a tan that I like, I tend to stick with it.
I first tried Ecotan a couple of years back. The spray method has quite a few benefits over other cream or mousse applications. The main one being the speed of application. While I still like to use a mousse or cream when I have a bit more time, I find that Ecotan is great as a top up! I can get up in the morning, get out of the shower...and if I realise I'm looking a bit too pasty to be revealing myself to the world, I'll give myself a quick spritz with the spray (taking all of 2 minutes), wait 5 mins or so for it to soak in, apply my moisturiser as usual, stick my make-up on and get dressed. As simple as that. Over the next few hours my tan will be developing while I'm going about with my everyday business! Other self tans require a bit more foresight...you'd need to apply it in the evening, go to sleep wearing loose clothing, then wash off the guide colour in the morning. Unlike many other self tans, Ecotan is colourless, so you have no worries about facing the world sporting that lovely application 'guide' colour. Nobody will even know! Although, you might find you're leaving work looking a much more attractive colour than when you first arrived that morning!
The most important thing with any self tan is to exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate. Ecotan does include a body scrub in its range - however I find that a body brush does just as good a job. When applying the Ecotan spray, make sure you're spraying a fine mist from a distance (arms length) - any closer and you'll find the mist is too intense, and if you soak yourself with it you're likely to get run-marks! You just want your skin to be slightly dampened. I guess practice is the key with this. I've never had any problems with this personally - but my mum did make a disasterous job of this when she tried it the first time! I know there's the temptation to rub it into your skin, but there really is no need. This is only likely to give you streak marks, and brown palms! If you wait five minutes for it to soak in, then apply a moisturiser afterwards, you'll find that the moisturiser evens out the tan anyway.
Ecotan costs about £12 per bottle on QVC (plus postage), but I've been buying my Ecotan from Ebay recently. I've discovered that I can buy 2 bottles for around the same price.
I definitely recommend Ecotan. With a bit of practice, you'll find you have the application down to an art!

Thanks for the comment left on my op about the same subject. My friend used some at arms length, and it still streaked. I think I'll stick to being pale and intetersting. xx

Sounds good. I've always been to chicken to use fake tans in case I end up streaky!

£12 for a tan bottle? Hmmm.... not for me! Good Review!! x x x
Advantages: Easy to apply, is coloured so you see where you are spraying Disadvantages: The colour of the bottle means it is difficult to tell how much you have left
