The new economics of everything
Advantages: Deeply engrossing, interesting new perspective on society Disadvantages: Highly conceptual not for everyone.
...insightful view into not only the head of an economist but society as well. This is a book by and economists and some concepts like supply and demand are present however Tim Harford effortlessly weaves his ideas and concepts into your mind allowing you to explore why it is a teenage moving from vaginal intercourse to oral sex is rational, when perhaps at first glance there is no link at all, why your boss contrary to popular belief HAS to be overpaid. ... ...leaving you lost and in the cold think again, Tim Harford dedicates the first chapter just introducing you to the basis of the book so you can soon be seamlessly forgetting everything you thought of people and introduce you to the new economics of everything.
Everything from supply and demand in context and social ecomomics is apparent here but not using bar charts and graphs but by talking of wonderful areas such as "the marriage supermarket" but ...

I have never been good with figures. Well actually, I am hopeless; so during my second degree programme, Contact Centre Management, (the first was BSc Global Futures and Health Studies which involved no finance) the feel of dread and terror that I would have to study accounts and management accounts in semester 2 year 2 was overwhelming. Then I picked up AS Level and A Level Accounting and it was a small line in the preface that caught my eye 'this book is written for students of accounting who face problems by asking how do I do this?' As this is how I felt I read on.
The book separated in to three chapters each of which as a number of subsections Contents (sorry about the long list but it gives a grasp of what can be learnt.)

Advantages: Informative subject material Disadvantages: Little too academic in places.
