I've been a member of CIAO now since 2005, and in that time I've generally only written reviews about products I like, and were available for writing CIAO reviews about, and were mostly full of praise. However, in that time I've also been itching for something I could review that I could really rip into, Clarkson style. And then I remembered this stuff.
It's been available in the UK since around the early 1990's so far as I can remember, and made irregular appearances on the shelves in my Dad's shop from time to time (and usually took a while to get shot of)..
It is aimed at the environmentally conscious, not necessarily those who have been taken in by the overhyped Global warming scam, but mainly those who care about things that genuinely matter, like Water quality, etc
Personally I can't stand the stuff, as for starters it's pretty weak, and the suds don't last as long as a proper washing-up liquid such as Fairy Liquid, and it smells REALLY bad.
LOOKS While most washing-up liquids are usually green in colouration, or perhaps Yellow if it's a lemon scented one, this stuff I recall is either a clear or clear with a whitish tinge to it....... in other words it looks a bit like sperm.
SMELL This is the worst part of it, which I can best describe as an extremely strong sulfur smell....... or perhaps similar to the not particularly delightful odour you may encounter while walking past a sewage farm. It's also one of the main reasons I'd rather forget the last ever Holiday away from home I had back in September 1994 with my Grandparents, when they made me wash with this stuff against my will (instead of my much nicer smelling Insignia shower gel) in order to deal with my zits (Which I didn't give a toss about, as I loved picking & squeezing them) which they considered a "problem" as if I'd contracted AIDS or something (I also wasn't particularly keen on them trying to force me to take anti-biotics against my will, or them insisting I carried my fishing tackle around the Norfolk Broads in the bucket my grandma used to pee in in the middle of the night, or use while taking trips on the electric day boats available for hire there).
PERFORMANCE Well, it works, but feels pretty weak, and have to keep squeezing more of it out to keep on working properly, as the suds didn't last very long. Also my Grandma's kitchen feels alot cleaner since she started using regular washing-up liquids again instead of this stuff.
VERDICT Use it if you must, but don't say I didn't warn you about the smell
I can't disagree more, this is one of the best washing up liquids I've ever used! You can buy 2 smells but I think both are nice, it leaves my hands so soft and not irritated like many of the chemically ones such as Fairy, and it is so good at cleaning. It doesnt have many suds as that requires bad chemicals which Ecover dont want to use, and the suds dont do anything anyway, it is the detergent in the water which does the cleaning, not the suds. It's natural, better for the environment as it doesnt poison animals when its let down the drain and a great cleaner too.

I bought this once - I think it must have been on offer. I remember the suds not lasting as well as regular washing up liquid, but it seemed to do a decent enough job of cleaning my dishes. Can't say I remember what it smelled like, but if what you say is true, maybe I have blocked that bit out!
