This is a revised and updated edition of the highly illustrated guide to the Eden Project site, with a clear user-friendly explanation of all the exhibits, in a landscape format.
Advantages: Lots to learn about plants in a very attractive setting Disadvantages: A lot of walking
My husband and I have just been to the EdenProject for the first time. Although we had some rain during the day, it did not spoil our enjoyment, as a lot of the project is under cover. the Bio domes were amazing. You really do have to see them for yourselves. The variety of plants is outstanding.
We also visited the Mechanical Theatre with its animation and puppets. It explains how the rich countries such as the USA are making huge profits from the sale of Basmati rice, while the poor countries who grow the rice are left struggling to make enough to live on. It realy makes you think. The story is presented in a very interesting and entertaining way.
There is a lot of walking if you want to see everything, although, there is a land train which will transport you from the entrance to the main part of the project.
We had ...
Advantages: Educational and individual effect on the masses Disadvantages: Very expensive, perhaps too touristy so the message is lost.
offered a loan to the Trust, which was only to be repaid if it was successful, again a leap of faith and a faith in the vision for them.
Obviously being Waste Neutral is an important belief, and a difficult one to achieve in a tourist attraction of this size. Visitors are encouraged to take special care of their waste and use the appropriate bins which are all over the park. During construction, the weather was a challenge with 100 days of rain and the rainwater on site is collected and used where needed including flushing visitor toilets.
Getting There
-----------------
Eden is situated between the A390 and A391 close to the StAustell area of Cornwall, and is easily accessible by car, where there are clear road markings. However, walkers and cyclists get a discount of £3 on admission and they also get to join a priority queue ...
The EdenProject is so so so over rated! My partner and i had wanted to go for ages, so we decided to make a weekend of it. Driving to cornwell and finding a hotel for the weekend.
We were both really excited about spending the day at the eden porject and i really wish we had not bothered.
The most exciting part of the EdenProject is the actual structure, which i have to admit is pretty amazing if you are interested in buildings.
But what was in the structure, was most disappointing. I would suggest booking your self a holiday to a slightly tropical desitation if possible.
IF you have ever been to a real rain forest, the rain forst at the EdenProject is actually embaressing.
And the other dome, well just wait for summer in the UK and you will have the same experience.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ...
