Advantages: Stylish | Good content | Interesting to read
Disadvantages: Can be seen as elitist

...to add something different, only Edge has remained in the market with a loyal following of gamers.

Edge has been around for just over 10 years and has gained respect all over the world from both the people who read it and games developers themselves. It goes deeper into the world of gaming rather than just reporting on current games. It offers insight into new technology, game developers and the gaming industry as a whole around the ...
...variety of games. While Edge gives all the latest detail it also strives to take on critical analysis and will point out any shortcomings rather than ‘bigging’ a game up prior to its release.

Reviews in the magazine is based on a 10 point score system with 5 being the average and not 7 like most magazines seem to perceive the average to be. The score system is usually adhered to well with only a few games in a year raising some questions ... more

EDGE, gaming for grown-ups.

Advantages: The best gaming magazine around.
Disadvantages: The price, a bit expensive for JUST a magazine.

EDGE offers top notch reviews, features and news article, from a different point of view. It doesn't come with a DVD but it's well worth your money, with a clean design, great articles, etc. you'll be the first to know everything about games. This magazine features News articles, reviews, previews and features about every console (PS2, XBox, GC, GBA, PSP, DS) But not only new gen consoles, it also offers articles for retro games. The quality of ...

Marie claire a womans essential informer

Advantages: very informative about alsorts of issues
Disadvantages: some material can be upsetting i.e. child abuse

The first time i picked up marie claire was for the simple reason I was borred with other magazines and had not tried this one so i thought why not. That was well over two years ago and i havent looked back! Marie claire is the sort of magazine that does not undermine a womans' intelligence by containing page after page of makeup tips or how to pull tips etc; it is a magazine that informs the reader about important world wide issues as well as issues closer to home without losing its femine edge. Definately a magazines for a woman not a girl, as some of the material though not pornagraphic are still very adult issues. ...

A FIRST CLASS HOMES MAGAZINE

Advantages: Beautifully presented full of interesting homes
Disadvantages: Several pages of advertisements

fascinating reading. There is a garden section at the back of the magazine containing some wonderfully interesting, old and characterful gardens (nothing quirky or Charlie Dimmock type so perhaps give it a miss if that's the sort of thing you are interested in). In that respect therefore, I feel this magazine has the edge over 25 Beautiful Homes which is another magazine I look forward to buying, but which doesn't really have a gardening section. At £2.75 it falls within the average price range. I probably won't buy it personally, but I'll definitely be pinching this from my sister each month!! ...

NME Magazine - A good read as ever!

Advantages: Great reviews and interviews, also very funny.
Disadvantages: Can have the odd bad week.

The NME is a magazine often hated by the people they rave about: the 'scenesters' who regard it to be too popular to fit in with an ever growing underground music scene in the UK. Of course, it is very popular, and it is hard to keep up at times, but the NME is still the best music magazine in this country. And the reason is it's attention to detail, it's weekly format making it on the ball of where to be and who to be with that particular week, and it always keeps at the height of fashion. And of course, it's well written. The NME have gathered together some of the finest music journalists in the biz, who are genuinely interested in discovering new music and telling the world about it, and this gives the magazine an edge which puts it ahead of the pack. It's been through through everything. Glam, Punk, Britpop, Garage Rock, and more ...
