Advantages: Its compact, easy to install, picks up signal easily Disadvantages: none
My household has just recently gone wireless with the help of a wireless box we were given by Orange after they found out we where considering change internet provider. Unfortunately my PC is not wireless enabled so had to buy a wireless receiver so that my machine could pick up a signal in order for me to surf the web.
I didn?t have much choice in the receiver for my computer as my dad just went and bought one for me over the internet and he chose one from a company called Edimax. I have never heard of this company so wasn?t quite sure how well it would work but I have to say that I have experienced no problems with it at all so far and I have had it for about 2 months now.
I have had a look on the internet and it can be found on Dabs.com for about £12 which I think is pretty good value compared with similar products ...
well.
After deciding that this was the most useless thing going, I took it back, and replaced it with a 'HiGain' one. Now, my laptop, an Acer Aspire 5512WLMi, the build in wireless card is better than what this was! Then it died, so I had to take that one back as well...
So, if you're ever wanting to buy any sort of Networking product, if you see anything to do with Edimax, walk away, and go with a decent brand.
Edimax are just plain useless. Just stay away from this company. All 3 different products from them were useless. ...
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use and reliable Disadvantages: None
I bought this card as it was the cheapest wireless card on the site I was using. I've never really had any bad experience with products not working and this was no exception. It is small and easy to install and takes up little space in the computer case. It works on a variety of OS's, I have tried it on Microsoft Windows 200 and Xp with no problems. The software comes on disk but can be easily downloaded from there website www.edimax.com. The software is easy to use and has all the general functions. The aerial is sturdy and useful for getting a good signal. I think that is great value for money and useful if you just want a cheap wireless card which will work. ...
