Find the letter.................
Review of Leap Frog Word Whammer Fridge Phonics by
piggypine
Advantages: Educational, great quality, reasonable price.........
Disadvantages: None.
I chose the Word Whammer for Christopher after he started nursery last September, he's the youngest in his year and in our area the older children start nursery in the April and gradually stagger the intake until the last child starts in September, he's a smart kid but I couldn't help worry that he might be a bit behind the older kids who had so many more months of nursery behind them and thought the Whammer would be the perfect toy to encourage ... ...a magnetic play set consisting of the main unit and 32 letter pieces, designed to teach children the look, sound and name of letters as well as encouraging spelling and rhyming. The Word Whammer has 3 play modes chosen by moving the yellow slide to the matching mode symbol, the 3 play modes are "Letter Hunt" where you learn letter names and sounds through fun songs, "Word Builder" where you explore combinations of different letters with the aim of ...

Go Chug Chug Chugging Along
Review of Leap Frog Thomas the Tank Engine LeapPad Book by
belfin
Advantages: A great first book for the Leappad
Disadvantages: My son has now outgrown this one a little bit.
...many electronic learning toys from Leap Frog. It is also available with a writing version nowadays but we have the original and it works by way of a book, a cartridge and an electronic pen that can be used to point to various things on each book. If you want to know more about the system itself, I have an old review lurking somewhere on the site about it.
***The Cartridge***
Before starting to use this book make sure the cartridge is pushed into ... ...book you are about to use. The cartridges are made of a pretty sturdy plastic casing with an opening at the side to be attached to the Leappad. This one has the title of the book written on it but also has a picture of Thomas on it too so it's easy for a child that can't read yet to see which one is needed. ***The Book***
Most children are familiar with Thomas from the television shows and books and this one fits in nicely for any young fan. It ...

Hi I'm Alphabet pal
Review of Leap Frog Alphabet Pal by
ldvda
Advantages: Many function, educational but fun
Disadvantages: You think its off and its not!
Before I start the picture above is the version before the one I am going to describe to you but is more or less the same and is the one you can currently buy now.
It was my daughter first birthday and I was walking around Toys R Us trying to find something for her that was educational but fun and something she will get more than a few month play out of. I had heard of leapfrog toys before and that that used voices with English accent which was ... ...around the leapfrog section I spotted the caterpillar and thought he looked fun and was educational so I thought we would give it ago.
The big came day came when my little girl reached the big one and we gave her her presents. It seems I got it right and she loved her caterpillar and wanted to play with it almost straight away.
So what do you get for you money. You get a purple caterpillar which is about 30cm long. The body is made up of 4 sections, ...

Learning Fun
Review of Leap Frog Baby Counting Pal by
newby2
Advantages: great all round toy
Disadvantages: none
A Review of…..
Leap Frog's Counting Pal.
This was certainly one toy that I really couldn't wait to get for Jack. I have two other friends with children and they both have it for their and when I was visiting them I just couldn't help myself from playing with it. I really am just a big kid at heart. So before Jack was even bought I had ordered this toy from Amazon and it was waiting for his arrival. Although he didn't really appreciate the brilliance ... ...that every child should have as you can get so much out of it. I am awarding 10*s even though the rating system only goes up to 5 but I think it deserves so much more than 5*s. Leap Frog you have struck gold with this little gem! ...

Great handheld for younger kids.
Review of Leap Frog Leapster L-Max by
KarynL
Advantages: Can be used both as portable handheld and through television.
Disadvantages: Some of the leapster games do not work through the television.
This handheld is both educational and fun for children.
There is a good game built into the system so no need to buy cartridges before your child can start enjoying it. this rabbit game is adjustable, can help with numbers or letters and is quite addictive!
This system is great as it grows with your child, all the games have different level options available from very easy to very difficult so can be adjusted depending on the ability of individual ... ...games well on his own on the easy setting but also older children who have tried this can use a more difficult setting and still feel challenged. This system is ideal for younger kids who like the appeal of the nintendo ds as it also features a pen which you touch the screen with. But is much more durable and hardwearing and also a lot cheaper. Also the system is ideal for smaller hands to grip. Although the cartridges can work out expensive (roughly ...
