Hail the V smile
Review of VTech V-Smile by louisecb

Advantages: bright colours, eductaional, fun learning for all ages
Disadvantages: price, use of batterys etc

...bought a Thomas Vsmile by Vtech for my son for Christmas, thanks to all the adverts it was all he kept talking about however i am glad i did give it the glory of advertising. The new Vsmile comes with a microphone and also a pen which allows your child to get used to numbers and letters in fun but education way. The microphone also kepps them to learn songs & rythm by signing along to the catchy songs. The brght colours of the consol makes it eye ...
...as long as it is plugged into the TV the child can do everythin on their own. The paw print style control is great for the smaller child with the gear stick and large buttons. There is also a compartment for all their games to be stored when not in use. One of the downsides is that it runs off a lot of batteries, which you have to keep changing if your child uses the games a lot. However you can buy a AC adapter to run off the mains, at an extra ... Leapfrog Leapster L-Max
Review of Leap Frog Leapster L-Max by kellys_eye

Advantages: helps develop hand eye co-ordination,
Disadvantages: has 2 built in functions but you do have to buy extra games

My daughter is 3 and we are waiting for a nursery place for her. I was concerned that she may fall behind other children whilst we are waiting so we invested in the Leapster L Max. It is a handheld computer that can either be used on the childs lap or there is a lead that comes with it to enable you to plug it into your tv. The computer has 2 built in functions. One is a rabbit game where your child has to follow the instructions in order to cross ...
...child can pick from a selection of pictures and colour them in using a range of colours and tools. This computer not only teaches them how to hold a pencil but also helps them to develop their hand eye co-ordination and the ability to make decisions for themselves and to play independently. As well as these built in functions you can also but various cartridge games for them. We have bought the "Letters on the Loose" game which teaches children ... Read review

A great learning toy! Highly recommended.
Review of Leap Frog Leap Pad Plus Writing by gunner_mel

Advantages: Combination of fun and education
Disadvantages: None found

I found the Leap Frog Leap Pad Plus Writing a very well thought trough learning toy. It has the right mixture of education and fun offering books with characters that are increasingly popular with children. But besides that Leap Frog are also aiming at science and history knowledge questions and are able to combine all this with reading and writing exercises. I have never found my hyperactive 5-year-old so mesmerized by a toy. She loved it and came ...
...just learned. After 15 months with the system, I had only have to change the batteries once and games are often available as cheap as £2.99 on special offer at some of the large highstreet retailers. Very good value for money and nice to see something useful and at the same time entertaining. ... Read review

My first Leappad.
Review of Leap Frog Leappad - Toy by sheptse

Advantages: Great educational toy, very easy to use, lots of choice for books
Disadvantages: None

...aspects of playing with their Leap Pad books with no adult assistance. There is quite a large variety of books you can buy for the leappad and each book comes with a cartridge that just slots into the side. The majority of books that are for the Leappad are educational, which is great because while your child thinks they are playing they are actually learning too. The books clip on to the Leappad with a ring binding mechanism, very easy for your ...
...are all set to go, just switch the Leappad on and then with the magnetic pen that is attached via a 30cm wire you need to tap GO on whatever page you are using, then you are set to play that page. The Leappad runs on 4 AA batteries and to be fair they last for ages before needing to be replaced. My children are now 3.5 and 4.5 years old and they still love them, we just keep buying new books every now and then. We have had our Leappads for a year ... Read review
