A great learning toy! Highly recommended.
Review of Leap Frog Leap Pad Plus Writing by
gunner_mel
Advantages: Combination of fun and education
Disadvantages: None found
I found the Leap Frog Leap Pad Plus Writing a very well thought trough learning toy. It has the right mixture of education and fun offering books with characters that are increasingly popular with children. But besides that Leap Frog are also aiming at science and history knowledge questions and are able to combine all this with reading and writing exercises. I have never found my hyperactive 5-year-old so mesmerized by a toy. She loved it and came ... ...just learned. After 15 months with the system, I had only have to change the batteries once and games are often available as cheap as £2.99 on special offer at some of the large highstreet retailers. Very good value for money and nice to see something useful and at the same time entertaining. ...

My first Leappad.
Review of Leap Frog Leappad - Toy by
sheptse
Advantages: Great educational toy, very easy to use, lots of choice for books
Disadvantages: None
...aspects of playing with their Leap Pad books with no adult assistance.
There is quite a large variety of books you can buy for the leappad and each book comes with a cartridge that just slots into the side. The majority of books that are for the Leappad are educational, which is great because while your child thinks they are playing they are actually learning too.
The books clip on to the Leappad with a ring binding mechanism, very easy for your ... ...are all set to go, just switch the Leappad on and then with the magnetic pen that is attached via a 30cm wire you need to tap GO on whatever page you are using, then you are set to play that page.
The Leappad runs on 4 AA batteries and to be fair they last for ages before needing to be replaced.
My children are now 3.5 and 4.5 years old and they still love them, we just keep buying new books every now and then. We have had our Leappads for a year ...

Go Chug Chug Chugging Along
Review of Leap Frog Thomas the Tank Engine LeapPad Book by
belfin
Advantages: A great first book for the Leappad
Disadvantages: My son has now outgrown this one a little bit.
...many electronic learning toys from Leap Frog. It is also available with a writing version nowadays but we have the original and it works by way of a book, a cartridge and an electronic pen that can be used to point to various things on each book. If you want to know more about the system itself, I have an old review lurking somewhere on the site about it.
***The Cartridge***
Before starting to use this book make sure the cartridge is pushed into ... ...book you are about to use. The cartridges are made of a pretty sturdy plastic casing with an opening at the side to be attached to the Leappad. This one has the title of the book written on it but also has a picture of Thomas on it too so it's easy for a child that can't read yet to see which one is needed. ***The Book***
Most children are familiar with Thomas from the television shows and books and this one fits in nicely for any young fan. It ...

Help Thomas and his Friends
Review of Leap Frog ClickStart Computer Game - Thomas The Tank Engine by
Ciciu
Advantages: Learning essential skills while playing
Disadvantages: Expensive
I bought the Click Start computer for my son for Christmas ( I have reviewed that also) So when people asked for ideas for pressents the games seemed like an obvious option.
There are three different games on this cartridge, each teaching different skills. Each with two levels of difficulty, depending on the age of the child.
"Really useful Engine"
Help the Fat controller - Using the mouse, First the child must choose the correct crates by recognising ... ...the crate using phonics, pick one crate to complete the three letter word. In level two the say the letters name, and also spell longer words.
Thomas then moves on and the child must help him pass some obsatcles by working out the correct tool for the obstacle ahead. Click on the correct picture and Thomas can move on.
"Making tracks"
Direct the engines - Using the mouse
The train enters the screen where the track splits into different directions. ...

Great handheld for younger kids.
Review of Leap Frog Leapster L-Max by
KarynL
Advantages: Can be used both as portable handheld and through television.
Disadvantages: Some of the leapster games do not work through the television.
This handheld is both educational and fun for children.
There is a good game built into the system so no need to buy cartridges before your child can start enjoying it. this rabbit game is adjustable, can help with numbers or letters and is quite addictive!
This system is great as it grows with your child, all the games have different level options available from very easy to very difficult so can be adjusted depending on the ability of individual ... ...games well on his own on the easy setting but also older children who have tried this can use a more difficult setting and still feel challenged. This system is ideal for younger kids who like the appeal of the nintendo ds as it also features a pen which you touch the screen with. But is much more durable and hardwearing and also a lot cheaper. Also the system is ideal for smaller hands to grip. Although the cartridges can work out expensive (roughly ...
