The Mama of guitar multi effects!!!
Advantages: fun to use, really nice sounds Disadvantages: so many things... can be confusing sometimes...
...to upgrade it to a Zoom GFX-5. I kept the Zoom GFX5 for about 6 months, and then upgraded to the G9. I just fell in love with the unit. First, (I know it is lame) it looks really cool. Then I read many reviews about it on various websites, and the specs looked really good, and also it sounded like it was really easy to get a nice sound.
With my years of struggle to get a sound I like, I felt really attracted to this unit. They also upgraded the ... ...supply (that is new for Zoom to do that)
- Programs:
You also get the program Cubase LE, but surprisingly no USB cable. - Manuals, and quick guide (with details of the amp simulations)
THE SOUND
*******************
Well. That is where it shines.
This unit is HIGHLY tweakable. You can change almost everything. Every effect is tweakable to the extreme. So you can get the sound you are looking for with a bit of work.
The amplifier simulations ...

Oh, the endless Muff jokes
Advantages: Authentic fuzz Disadvantages: not too sturdy
Everyone who's anyone has a Big Muff. I hung on till Electro-Harmonix reissued the 70s USA Muff. It's meant to sound better than the previous Sovtek version (I haven't had a chance to compare them yet), but its probably the coolest looking stompbox that will ever grace my pedalboard.
As with all the Electro-Harmonix pedals, it comes in a quality wooden box (although it's a bit too big, and my Muff rattles around in it). Having paid £65 for it, I ... ...for a distortion when everybody has this effect on their amp).
With the sustain (gain) control turned up all the way, I set the level so it matched my clean channel, and fiddled around with the tone control. Personally, I bought the Big Muff for its low, muddy, rumbly fuzz. And, oh my God, does it rumble! With virtually any guitar and amp you can sound like Billy Corgan (if you want to). The pedal can also produce some great lead sounds, with the ...

Turn that bloody noise down
Advantages: Reduce noise, power multiple pedals, quality Disadvantages: none
...This is where the Boss NS-2 comes in. It can eliminate the noise and hum of your input signal without affecting the guitar’s sound.
But why would I choose this pedal over other manufacturer’s noise suppressors?
It’s true there are other pedals such as Rocktron’s Hush pedal for you to choose, but the NS-2 has a simple yet unique feature of being able to power another seven pedals when used with a psu. This cuts down on the amount of ac adapters ... ...The Boss noise suppressor is also up to the usual high standard of build that Boss produce. It is very strong and can last for years of abuse.
Sizes:
Width- 73mm
Depth- 129mm
Height- 59mm
Weight- 0.4kg
This a good quality pedal and will cost about £50. Although it’s only worth getting if you have multiple effects pedals and use distortion. ...

RC-20XL A Loop That'll Last
Advantages: tough, long memory time, good features. Disadvantages: expensive and highly specific function.
I have been using a boss RC-20XL for about a year now and I must say I have found it a usefull and dynamic little piece of kit, but then when shops are asking around £160 for something it had better be usefull and a whole lot more to boot. I mainly use this when messing around with song ideas at home but I have used it at small university gigs and I can say that I haven't ever had any problems with it in the time that I've had it. Knowing its a Boss ... ...Boss pedals in the past and they have lasted forever. Basically this pedal acts as a Phrase recorder/Loop station allowing you to record a loop and then overdub your previous sound to begin building up layers into what can be an almost orchestral effect live on stage with only one guitar which is a pretty inpressive effect. There is a possibility to record up to 16 minutes of loops on the memory which is a huge amount for one song, but also the ability ...

Boss ME-20 Guitar Effects Processor; try and see the difference.
Advantages: user friendly, easy to use, portable and durable Disadvantages: none I can name because it is so good
The quality of sound produced especially when used with a double hum buck guitar is superb. It is very user -friendly, and has a lot of cool effects you can play with. It has 3 effect pedal and a wah pedal that you can you use for different kinds of tunes such as metal, country or techno/delay sounds. I use it preferably on metal tunes and a few delay/echo effects that I need for our band sound. It is really great for average users because you can ...
