A Good Quality Tremolo Unit
Review of Boss Tremolo TR-2 by
richard_richard
Advantages: Good quality, sturdy, good value for money
Disadvantages: None really
Boss have been producing good quality guitar pedals for many years now and are one of the best know names in guitar pedal manufacture. Boss have an extensive range of effect pedals for guitars, the one I am reviewing here is the TR-2 Tremolo pedal. I purchased this pedal a couple of years ago and I believe at the time I paid £59 for it, brand new.
Construction
The TR-2 is a sturdy looking pedal. It has a solid looking, all metal construction which ... ...I like the single function Boss pedals as I have always found them to give a pleasingly warm effect which also doesn’t mess up your guitar tone. I’m pleased to say that this tremolo pedal is no different in this respect. The tremolo effect has a lot of warmth to it. With a bit of playing around, you can make the effect sound quite a lot like the sort of tremolo you would expect to hear from a vintage Fender or Vox amplifier.
The Wave control is ...

CEB-3 is the Boss
Review of Boss CEB-3 by
robm
Advantages: Good range of sounds, excellent build quality
Disadvantages: uhm... well.....
The Boss CEB-3 is a Bass Chorus pedal, and uses the same classic pedal deisgn as all of the single pedals that Boss produce.
Chorus is an effect that when used lightly sounds like there are two basses playing exactly the same thing. if you were to fret the 5th fret on the E string of your bass, and play it at the same time of the A string, that sort of swirlling sound that produces is similar to a weak chorus.
However when the rate of the chorus ... ...sound.
There are four controls on the pedal.
The first is the level control. This knob controls the amount of the effect and the the amount of the dry signal that are outptu from the pedal. When this knob is turned all the way up, you will get pretty much all of the effect signal, but if all the way down you will get pretty much the dry signal of the bass withtout any effect. This knob is pretty much personal preference.
Next to this is the "Low ...

Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9
Review of Ibanez Tube Screamer TS 9 by
01GrahJ
Advantages: Beautiful creamy overdrive, well built
Disadvantages: None whatsoever!
I am using the Tube Screamer with a Gordon Smith SG2 (great guitar) and a 65 watt Marshall JTM60 valve combo amp. With the TS9 on, I'm able to play great sustaining solos, and crunchy riffs, which sound better than they ever did before with only my amps built-in distortion. If you want a lots of distortion, then you can put the drive knob all the way up, but don't forget that the TS9 is an overdrive pedal, and sounds best when the drive knob is put ... ...rock sound, excellent for solos. I'd suggest you use it with and AC adaptor, as you never know when batteries are going to fail on you!
If you're after a good pedal to give you some slight overdrive to your clean sound, this will do the trick. This is a great pedal. It doesn't suck tone and the overdriven sound is fantastic. If you need a booster pedal for your current high gain sound, then this is an awesome pedal to get. It's no wonder why the ...

Show 'em Who's BOSS
Review of Boss Metal Zone MT-2 by
brunocrosier
Advantages: Great look, durable, nice tones
Disadvantages: Price
The BOSS Metal Zone MT-2 has become one of the world's most commonly used effects pedals, and is the pedal of choice of most of the metal genre's finest guitarists. It has a three-band equaliser and semi-parametric midtone equaliser to provide an optimum range of tones to suit a variety of subgenres. It seems that BOSS are so confident in their product that they have offered a 5 year warranty with their product. Perhaps this is because it is built ... ...pedals myself i can safely say that the UM100 gives a much crisper yet distorted tone. So unless you are more interested in buying a brand name than a product, i would steer clear of all BOSS products and buy yourself 4 Behringer pedals for the price of one MT-2. ...

Boss TU-2
Review of Boss TU-2 by
Andrew46
Advantages: Accurate tuning easy to use
Disadvantages: Difficult to see the readout in sunlight
Every guitarist and bass player should have a tuner and the TU-2 is the best i have owned! A compact pedal that is powered by a 9 volt AC power adaptor or 9 volt battery, it has one instument input and two outputs, output and bypass. When using the output the signal is cut when the pedal is on enabling the user to tune in silence. When using the bypass output the signal is not cut so you can hear the note you are tuning. I use the silent tuning option.
... ...instument:- chromatic (E A D G B E), Guitar (strings 1 2 3 4 5 6), flat, double flat, Bass.
It has an led read out for the string you are tuning and whether it is sharp or flat.
A a semi proffessional guitarist i have owned mine for about 2 years and have found it to be invaluable. It is gigged every week and is constantly used in my studio and has never let me down- well it is made by Boss, the industry standard.
The only gripe would be that ...
