Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9
Review of Ibanez Tube Screamer TS 9 by
01GrahJ
Advantages: Beautiful creamy overdrive, well built
Disadvantages: None whatsoever!
I am using the Tube Screamer with a Gordon Smith SG2 (great guitar) and a 65 watt Marshall JTM60 valve combo amp. With the TS9 on, I'm able to play great sustaining solos, and crunchy riffs, which sound better than they ever did before with only my amps built-in distortion. If you want a lots of distortion, then you can put the drive knob all the way up, but don't forget that the TS9 is an overdrive pedal, and sounds best when the drive knob is put ... ...rock sound, excellent for solos. I'd suggest you use it with and AC adaptor, as you never know when batteries are going to fail on you!
If you're after a good pedal to give you some slight overdrive to your clean sound, this will do the trick. This is a great pedal. It doesn't suck tone and the overdriven sound is fantastic. If you need a booster pedal for your current high gain sound, then this is an awesome pedal to get. It's no wonder why the ...

Ibanez SM-7
Review of Ibanez SM7 by
onlineguitarhero2
Advantages: It is sexy and gives a good sound
Disadvantages: It's a distortion pedal.......how can there be any cons?
The Ibanez SM-7 is a tough one to review, it most definitely full fills it's task as a big crushing metal distortion pedal but does very little else. So, let's just have a run down of all the features on the pedal.
Clean Channel
---------------------
This pedal works a real treat when switched off. This may sound very strange to most people but trust me, some pedals when you aren't using the effect on them will still alter the sound coming from ... ...your average boss pedal, the Ibanez logo is subtly recessed into the pedal switch itself not a huge obvious logo spattered over the control board. The dials are fully depression-able; this is useful because it means that when using the switch you can't knock the dials to a different setting because they are safely inside the pedal as opposed to sitting on the top. The ID label on the top of the pedal is a very nice touch, a small SM-7 on an almost ...

TS9 - With choice!
Review of Ibanez Tube Screamer TS 9 DX by
pgmpower
Advantages: Very fat tone, excellent choice and variety
Disadvantages: I can't think of any
I bought this pedal 2 months ago. Before that, I had a Boss DS1. Buying the TS9DX was the best pedal buying decision I ever made. Full of versitality and uses by great guitar players such as Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai and Andy Timmons, this pedal gives you a wide variety of tones to suit your needs. The first thing about it is that it has a normal Tube Screamer (TS9) mode which is the exact same sound you get with a regular Tube Screamer. Then you have ... ...and mid too. Next, is the "Hot" mode, this again increases your bass and mids further, while also fattening up your tone through the amp. Finally, you have "Turbo" mode, the bass and mids added on this setting are insane! Super fat tone, crushing distortion and hyper boosted mids! This is my favourite distortion pedal! A must for every guitar players pedalboard! ...

Electro Harmonix Micro-synth (re-issue)
Review of Electro Harmonix Micro-Synth by
Chris_taylor
Advantages: a very simple, but effective, introduction to synth sounds with no guitar-midi
Disadvantages: large footprint, may not find its place in every bands sound,no true bypass
I was looking for a product which I could create sounds which most would define as 'out-there', or at least 'classic synth' for use in a jazz fusion band. The mircro synth excels at the latter, with an ability to quickly dail (or maybe slide) in warm monophonic Moog style sounds. you cannot go any further than monophonic however, a restirction which although seems extreme is actually quite managable once accepted. The low-pass has a large sweep, ... ...which allows for down and up envelope sounds. Due to the resonance control and rate controls, sounds can range from subtle to seriously thick sounding classic mono synth leads, even purcussive or pad sounds can be coaxed out of the unit, and thats before you've even really dealt with the 'voice mix' section or attack slider. The four voices produced: sub octave, guitar (not dry output, just the octave of the signal), octave (up) and 'square wave' ...

Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Pedal - 2 for one!
Review of Boss Over Drive/Distortion OS 2 by
monkeybutler100
Advantages: Wide range of tones, 2 pedals in one, solid as a rock
Disadvantages: Overdrive could be better
...As the name suggest, this Boss pedal gives you both overdrive AND distortion. You have 4 knobs to play with - volume, tone, gain, and overdrive/distortion. The first 3 of those are found on virtually every pedal in history, so I shan't explain those. The overdrive/distortion (O/D) is quite cool though. Turn it fully anti clockwise, and you get pure overdrive. All the way clockwise gives you pure distortion, and setting it to anywhere in the middle ... ...- very much like the Boss DS-1 in tone, it will suit just about anything you want to play that needs some real noise. With the gain turned all the way up, its a beast of a sound. Rating - Excellent.
The overdrive by itself though is a little disappointing - it just lacks depth, warmth, and sounds a little artificial. If it wasnt a Boss, I would have expected that type of sound, but since it comes from one of the best pedal makers in he market, I ...
