Lush Chorus
Review of Boss Super Chorus CH 1 by Paolo1

Advantages: Lush sound
Disadvantages: CE5 better for same price

...as it produces the same range and quality of sounds for the same price, but it allows slightly extra tone control. The construction is excellent as with all boss pedals and I have no doubts that it will last as long as you own it. ... Read review

Electro Harmonix Micro-synth (re-issue)
Review of Electro Harmonix Micro-Synth by Chris_taylor

Advantages: a very simple, but effective, introduction to synth sounds with no guitar-midi
Disadvantages: large footprint, may not find its place in every bands sound,no true bypass

I was looking for a product which I could create sounds which most would define as 'out-there', or at least 'classic synth' for use in a jazz fusion band. The mircro synth excels at the latter, with an ability to quickly dail (or maybe slide) in warm monophonic Moog style sounds. you cannot go any further than monophonic however, a restirction which although seems extreme is actually quite managable once accepted. The low-pass has a large sweep, ...
...which allows for down and up envelope sounds. Due to the resonance control and rate controls, sounds can range from subtle to seriously thick sounding classic mono synth leads, even purcussive or pad sounds can be coaxed out of the unit, and thats before you've even really dealt with the 'voice mix' section or attack slider. The four voices produced: sub octave, guitar (not dry output, just the octave of the signal), octave (up) and 'square wave' ... Read review

Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion Pedal - 2 for one!
Review of Boss Over Drive/Distortion OS 2 by monkeybutler100

Advantages: Wide range of tones, 2 pedals in one, solid as a rock
Disadvantages: Overdrive could be better

...As the name suggest, this Boss pedal gives you both overdrive AND distortion. You have 4 knobs to play with - volume, tone, gain, and overdrive/distortion. The first 3 of those are found on virtually every pedal in history, so I shan't explain those. The overdrive/distortion (O/D) is quite cool though. Turn it fully anti clockwise, and you get pure overdrive. All the way clockwise gives you pure distortion, and setting it to anywhere in the middle ...
...- very much like the Boss DS-1 in tone, it will suit just about anything you want to play that needs some real noise. With the gain turned all the way up, its a beast of a sound. Rating - Excellent. The overdrive by itself though is a little disappointing - it just lacks depth, warmth, and sounds a little artificial. If it wasnt a Boss, I would have expected that type of sound, but since it comes from one of the best pedal makers in he market, I ... Read review

The Boss ME-30 : Worth every Cent
Review of Boss ME-30 by bluesguy62

Advantages: Great sounds, flexibility and ease of use
Disadvantages: Limited number of presets per bank, LCD display hard to read on dark stages

...RM1 250 back in 1999. Boss doesn not manufacture this anymore, so get your hands on one as soon as one is available. Of course, the built-in volume/wah/pitch bend pedal is not as responsive as those on dedicated units; but it gets the job done. The effects, such as chorus, delay, reverb, overdrive and distortion are definitely BOSS, and the sounds are comparable with that of dedicated BOSS stand-alone stomp boxes. There is a slight learning curve ...
...cent; all it needs is a little patience and the willingness to experiment; in order to discover its true capabilities. The pitch shifter is not intelligent; but does the job fairly well. All said and done, this offering from BOSS is a must-have for the guitar player on a budget. ... Read review

Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Wah Wah
Review of Dunlop Jim Cry Baby by Rampant_Ross

Advantages: Creates great noises like Hendrix
Disadvantages: A little costy

If your thinking about getting an effect pedal for your electric guitar this is the one for you. In my mind this is one of the best available effect pedal on the market. I have used one at my friends house and it really does work wonders, you can sound like Jimi Hendrix with this Cry Baby. There is one problem it does come with a bit of a price tag if your a beginner guitarist but if you've been playing for a while then you won't mind paying a bit ...
...up and even easier to use just push your foot up and down like the bass of a drum to alter the distortion of the guitar. Even without pushing the pedal down the noise is still much better with this even more so with a marshell amop. I would advise the purchase of this product and i think it'll be at my home in time for xmas! ... Read review
