Guitarport, be an easy bedroom rockstar
Review of Line 6 Guitarport by
Chopeh
Advantages: Price, PC Recording, Many Tones, Intuitive Software.
Disadvantages: Can't use it on stage! (Well, not easily)
...more mic-ing damn amps and hearing your brother talking in the background of the best damn solo you've ever recorded.
The bottom line is, if you want to sound like your guitar heroes, without splashing out on the £2000 amp and the £200 pedals, you can, in your bedroom. ...

The Mama of guitar multi effects!!!
Review of Zoom G9.2tt by
monsieur.Joda
Advantages: fun to use, really nice sounds
Disadvantages: so many things... can be confusing sometimes...
...to upgrade it to a Zoom GFX-5. I kept the Zoom GFX5 for about 6 months, and then upgraded to the G9. I just fell in love with the unit. First, (I know it is lame) it looks really cool. Then I read many reviews about it on various websites, and the specs looked really good, and also it sounded like it was really easy to get a nice sound.
With my years of struggle to get a sound I like, I felt really attracted to this unit. They also upgraded the ... ...supply (that is new for Zoom to do that)
- Programs:
You also get the program Cubase LE, but surprisingly no USB cable. - Manuals, and quick guide (with details of the amp simulations)
THE SOUND
*******************
Well. That is where it shines.
This unit is HIGHLY tweakable. You can change almost everything. Every effect is tweakable to the extreme. So you can get the sound you are looking for with a bit of work.
The amplifier simulations ...

Good fun to use
Review of Zoom GFX-707 by
frogds
Advantages: Alot of different Patches, Very adjustable
Disadvantages: Weak Connections
I have had the Zoom GFX-707 now for many a moon, and it was a great buy at the time, as it went up in price due to demand just after i bought it. However the tide has gone, and the market has changed. The 707 is no longer the best product on the market, nor is it best value for money.
It does have a multitude of effects, and is good fun, and given alot of tweaking, gives great sound.
But the interface is complicated, and the gain between patches ... ...cheap (there is a new Zoom on the market now made with a total metal exterior).
The connections inside are soldered straight to the circuit board, this means that during rigorus usage, it will break. Same problem with alot of people who own the 707, the connections break, and you end up with the signal cutting in and out. Not the most fun you will ever have while playing live.
In conclusion, it is a very nice piece of equipement, but is out dated ...

The Boss ME-30 : Worth every Cent
Review of Boss ME-30 by
bluesguy62
Advantages: Great sounds, flexibility and ease of use
Disadvantages: Limited number of presets per bank, LCD display hard to read on dark stages
...RM1 250 back in 1999. Boss doesn not manufacture this anymore, so get your hands on one as soon as one is available. Of course, the built-in volume/wah/pitch bend pedal is not as responsive as those on dedicated units; but it gets the job done. The effects, such as chorus, delay, reverb, overdrive and distortion are definitely BOSS, and the sounds are comparable with that of dedicated BOSS stand-alone stomp boxes. There is a slight learning curve ... ...cent; all it needs is a little patience and the willingness to experiment; in order to discover its true capabilities. The pitch shifter is not intelligent; but does the job fairly well. All said and done, this offering from BOSS is a must-have for the guitar player on a budget. ...

Digitech Midi Vocalist
Review of Digitech Vocalist Performer by
billi65
Advantages: easy to use
Disadvantages: none
The digitech midi vocalist is a nice little piece of kit. It is used for creating vocal harmonies while singing. It can generate up to 4 extra harmonies while you sing. It is very easy to use and the midi control is great. (vocoder mode)You can play a part on a keyboard and when you sing, the keyboard part creates the notes for the harmony. This was the most useful feature of the unit for me. It is a 1U rack mount unit and comes with the rack fittings, ... ...pans the harmonised voices. The microphone can be plugged in the front XLR jack or in the rear with a normal quarter inch jack. I bought the midi vocalist and a small effects unit to emulate ENYA type voices. It’s really good. I would recommend the unit to any vocalist as it “beefs up” your vocal line. The user manual is a bit cheap (like a photocopy stapled together) but it is simple and all you need to get going. If you need any ...
