Ibanez Tubescreamer TS9 tone!

Advantages: Great Tone!! Great sounding Solo's and Lead work!
Disadvantages: None!

The Ibanez Tube Screamer TS9 is little box of pure tone! If your looking for an overdrive pedal that will instantly beef your sound and make you cut through the music when you take a solo then this is for you. All the great players from SRV, Clapton, ZZ Top all own tubesreamers and they are all known for the tone and sound of there guitars. I personally play in a rock/blues band and i have gigged the TS9 all over London, the build quality is good ...

Lush Chorus

Advantages: Lush sound
Disadvantages: CE5 better for same price

...as it produces the same range and quality of sounds for the same price, but it allows slightly extra tone control. The construction is excellent as with all boss pedals and I have no doubts that it will last as long as you own it. ...

Dull and lifeless

Advantages: Sustain
Disadvantages: Tone

...the case. My experience with Boss has usually been ok with robust pedals that aren't half bad but the CS-3 was the first let down I had from Boss. The pedal is nice and robust and looks like it'll take a beating and still give you everything it's got. Only complaint with it construction wise is the battery connector. The cover peeled off the battery connector when I took out the battery making it a fiddly job to disconnect batteries now without ...
...Tone wise is where it all goes downhill. All the controls do their job ok and sometimes you can get an ok tone from it if you fiddle with it (at least I can with my Strat, not my Les Paul) but it seems to take away from your tone making it sound dull, lifeless and flat. Apart from that it works as it should. It compresses nicely and does aid with sustain (it does get to a point it gets noisy though as you increase the sustain using the sustain dial, ...

Great professional sounds. What a piece...

Advantages: Great sounds. Makes mono signal stereo.
Disadvantages: I only have one.

This pedal sounds great. It works equally well on vocals, guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, or anything else you want to sound better. This unit really couldn't be easier to operate. There's nothing like spinning a knob till you get it right where you want it. Once you find a setting you like, you just push in and hold one of the four buttons untill the corresponding light blinks. Now your setting is saved. The optional expression pedal is great! After ...
...down position, just move it into the up position and get the knobs the way you want them. Now move the pedal back and forth morphing between the two settings and see if you like it. If so, hold the button down and save again. This works great on the tremolo settings. What I do is set the bottom pedal position to a clean sound, then when the pedal gets pushed down the tremolo intensity and rate gets increased. There are only four positions to save ...

Not to be overlooked.

Advantages: Good starter pedal.
Disadvantages: It's nowhere near a Big Muff.

Boss can always be relied on to produce (at least) competent effects at a reasonable price. The SD-1 is just such a pedal, with the added bonus of being extremely simple to use, as it only has three knobs (volume, tone and drive). When turned on, it produces a decent enough overdrive mode, although nothing that will take your head off. I'd recommend it to effects-novices who are buying their first few pedals, and aren't particularly clued-up on ...
