The Mama of guitar multi effects!!!
Advantages: fun to use, really nice sounds Disadvantages: so many things... can be confusing sometimes...
...to upgrade it to a Zoom GFX-5. I kept the Zoom GFX5 for about 6 months, and then upgraded to the G9. I just fell in love with the unit. First, (I know it is lame) it looks really cool. Then I read many reviews about it on various websites, and the specs looked really good, and also it sounded like it was really easy to get a nice sound.
With my years of struggle to get a sound I like, I felt really attracted to this unit. They also upgraded the ... ...supply (that is new for Zoom to do that)
- Programs:
You also get the program Cubase LE, but surprisingly no USB cable. - Manuals, and quick guide (with details of the amp simulations)
THE SOUND
*******************
Well. That is where it shines.
This unit is HIGHLY tweakable. You can change almost everything. Every effect is tweakable to the extreme. So you can get the sound you are looking for with a bit of work.
The amplifier simulations ...

Pedal to the Metal (or cheap plastic)
Advantages: Lots of effects, great value for money, looks good Disadvantages: Very complicated
I have been playing the guitar for around about 4 years now, and have owned several guitar effects pedals, this one although very good, is extremely complicated to use. Now for value for money, this one is brilliant, I payed around about £40 for it, and so far have used it in a few concerts, and the results are very good, once you figure it out. Now once you have it set for the sound you like, what ever you do, DO NOT, try to change the effect while ... ...experience I can tell you that this won't go well. There are a wide variety of effects available on this pedal, from Modulation to Drive, Delay to reverb, and you can create your own sound, although as of yet I haven't figured out how to store what I have accomplished, because as soon as you disconnect the jack plug, it turns off and has immediately forgotten what you just spent about 20 minutes programming in to it. Some Tech Specs * Takes ...

Small, but brilliant Zoom B1X Bass Guitar Multi FX Pedal
Advantages: Small size, great range of sounds, price, well built Disadvantages: Lack of included AC adapter, expression pedal isn't the best
...Bass, I came across the Zoom B1X Multi FX Pedal, and though "this could be it." The main thing that stood out to me was the small size, and the fact that it would replace four items (tuner, another Multi FX, Chorus, and volume pedal) into just one, fairly small pedal. I paid £55 for mine, buying it on eBay, so it is really affordable. Since buying it, I have used it on a number of gigs and in my practice rig at home, and so have got a fair bit of ... ... Conclusion Over all, I think that the Zoom B1X is a great choice for any new bas guitarist, providing a great range of features for a small price, but a more intermediate player would probably want something a bit more substantial, like the Zoom B2.1U. ...

ZOOM 707-II Guitar
Advantages: Lots of sounds, smartmedia Disadvantages: made entirely of plastic, complicated interface
...would be hard to beat, considering what you get for your money. For a practice unit this is ideal, but maybe if you wanted something to gig with you shoul consider something with a slightly easier interface that doesnt neccesarily give you all the features of the ZOOM 707-II ...

Ease of Use Durability Value for Money |
Good fun to use
Advantages: Alot of different Patches, Very adjustable Disadvantages: Weak Connections
I have had the Zoom GFX-707 now for many a moon, and it was a great buy at the time, as it went up in price due to demand just after i bought it. However the tide has gone, and the market has changed. The 707 is no longer the best product on the market, nor is it best value for money.
It does have a multitude of effects, and is good fun, and given alot of tweaking, gives great sound.
But the interface is complicated, and the gain between patches ... ...cheap (there is a new Zoom on the market now made with a total metal exterior).
The connections inside are soldered straight to the circuit board, this means that during rigorus usage, it will break. Same problem with alot of people who own the 707, the connections break, and you end up with the signal cutting in and out. Not the most fun you will ever have while playing live.
In conclusion, it is a very nice piece of equipement, but is out dated ...
